i AT THE LOCAL THEATRES j MQQQQQQW.WWW" Film Fans Getting Double V alue in Gay New Comedy Joan Bennett and Franchot Tone Coâ€"starred in "She Knew All the Answers." Those fans who regard Joan Benâ€" nett as something worth looking at, and Franchot Tone as a personable young thespian, will be receiving double their money‘s worth at the Cartier theatre ESunday midnight, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6th, 7th and 8th, where Tone and Miss Benâ€" nett are coâ€"starred in Columbia‘s giddy new cci:nedy, "She Knew All the Anâ€" swers." Each star is seen, in one hectic seâ€" quence of the film, in a dual role, To ecmplicate matters, director Richard Wallace has deonmne the same thing with John Hukbard and Eve Arden, who head the large supporting cast. They, too, are "seen twice" as the funfest unfolds It would seem that the Cartiecr theaâ€" tre screen is literally thronged with Tones, Pennotts, Hubbards and Ardens, but Wallace‘s direction, and a wellâ€" written script, prevent any possibility of confusion. Actually, the dual roles call for the players to appear not only in their human characterizations, but as their ocwn consciences, their alter egos. Henry Freulich, cameraman on "She Knew All the Answers," conceived the process by which special effects were attained, and Columbia experts helped work it out. In "She Knew All the Answers," Tone is ssen as a Wall Street broker who suddenly d‘scovers himself in love with a night star. Miss Bennett, as the night club star, finds herself equally and suddenly smitten. Walter Pidgeon enters into little clowning with Greer Garson and Marsha Hunt in this sequence of "Blossoms in the Dust." in which he and Miss Garson are starred. Miss Hunt plays the actress‘ schook chum who takes her own life when she learns of the stamp of illegitimacy which is hers. It is this tragic occurrence which inspires Miss Garson, as Edna Gladney to enter upon her pioneer work of child welfare. "Blossoms in the Dust" will be at the Palace theatre, Friday, Friday midnight and Saturday, October 3rd and 4th. Unfortunately, the romantic discovâ€" eries are made just while Tone is leadâ€" ing Miss Bennett down the aisle to the altar at which waits an exceedingly unharmy bridegroomâ€"toâ€"be, a millionâ€" aire playboy who wants to keep on playing. Hubbard is the playboy who finally listens to his alter ego, and faints at his own wedding. The exâ€" citement gives Tone and Miss Bennett a chance to listen to their own desperâ€" ate consciences, and they immediately elope.
