South Porcupine, June 28â€"(Special to The Advance)â€"An inquest was held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Townâ€" ship Buildinz into the death of Anâ€" thony Hoffman. After forty minutes the jury returned the folowing verdict: "We, your jury, find that deceased, Anthony Hoffman, met his acciâ€" dentally on June 23rd, around 7:15 am. at the Paymaster Mine on the 668 stope grizzly above the 600 foot level by being tranped by a fall of roek coming* through an open raise above the grizzly." Dr. R. P. Smith testified that deâ€" ceased died from an internal haemarâ€" hage ‘resulting from a crushed lung. Death occurred aboui five minutes after the rock fall, ' Testimony was given ‘by A. Pugsley, mine superintendent, as to his knowâ€" ledge of the accident, and the deceasâ€" ed who had been employed only since May 28th, 1941, at the mine.. Record of deceased was that he had no pye vious mining experience, but was a good carpenter and had been previously employed on construction work. A. Godin, who was working: with Hoffman at the time, testified that he had shouted to his helper when he heard the rock coming. and had run for safety. He had not actually seen the rock strike deceased but on reâ€" turning to the grizzly had pulled rocks off ‘his feet and called for help. Mr. George Woods, her husband, predeceased her twelve years ago. The church was filled with sympathizing friends of the family, whoss mourning for the deceased lady was sincere.
