The fans. naturâ€" ally were eager to see what it had in the way of strength. They sawâ€"and it wasn‘t much. The South Enders used three pitchâ€" ers, three catchers and two men each in three other field positions but they were Able to get only two hits for two runs as compared to ten hits for eleven runs for the Hollinger which opposed. The game was not exciting. Gower went in hurling for the South Porcuâ€" pine squad and he was knocked out of the box early in the fourth inning. Dominus went in and the Holinger squad completed a fourth inning which finally netted eight runs. Finally, in the eighth, it was deemed advisable to yvank Dominus and replace him with Pirie. The youthful, nearâ€"junior pitâ€" cher, made as good a j0b5 as anyone of the three. It looked as though the squad from the big mine was going to pull itself out of the slough of despond by its bootâ€" straps but before the team could conâ€" sclidate its position the McIntyre launched an attack which ended fifty minutes later. By that time the final seore was four to oneâ€"in favour of the Redmen. Menry Lone and Rodgers combined effort for the goal which deadlocked the score.
