J. May, started a subscripâ€" tion in the Porcupine camp to send help to the families of the seven gallant seamen Oof St. Ives, Cornwall, Eng.and, who lost their lives while manning a lifcboat to go to the rescue of a ship in distress off the Cornish coast. The mayor of St. Ives made an appeal for assistance for the seven widows and eight children bereaved by the tragedy. It was this appsal that was taken up by the Cornish Social Club, in view of the fact that there are so many Cornish people in Timmins and the Poreupine who come from Cornwall, some of them indeed being natives of St. Ives and district. Although the subscription lists will be open for several days yet, good reâ€" sponse is coming in to the appeal. This is particularly true of the Dome and South Porcupine section where Cornâ€" isimen have contributed $50. The fund will close on Saturday, April 22nd.
