The occasâ€" ion was the fruit shower held under ‘he auspices of the Ladies‘ Auxililary of the hospital, and they are delighted with the results, Fach guest â€"â€" some from Timmins and Schumacher, Bufâ€" faloâ€"Ankerite, and Pamour as well as from townâ€"came laden with preserves of different kinds to swell the pantry of the hospital. There were jars of fruit and jam and pickles everywhere one looked at the residenceâ€"wunder the table, on the table, on the piano, in the kitchen, a larger number even than were taken at the shower hneld when Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kemp, of Sudâ€" bury, have taken up residence in the house on O‘Brien aveniue formerly oc« cupied by Mr. and Mrs. J. McFadden, who have moved to Dome Extension. Mr. J. E. Evans proposed a toast to the ladies, to which Mrs. Reed respondâ€" »d in fitting manner, assuring the conâ€" :regation of the continued help of the Ladies‘ Guild. This social evening was undoubtedly i great success. The Rev. Lyttle and Mrs. Lyttle made this an occasion for meeting the members of their pasâ€" torate in an informal and soctal way. The whole anniversary celebration was in undoubted success, Jlause. Mr. J. E. Evans gave three recitations in his inimitable manner, and comâ€" munity singing led by Miss Hale, of Timmins, helped to make a social note. Miss Hale has recently come from Sasâ€" where she was teaching in one of the droughtâ€"stricken areas, and he gave a descriptive picture of the hardships endured and the brave strugâ€" sustained by the inhabitants. She made a special appeal for clething and is making up bales for snipment, so ippealed for contributions. Knowing South Porcupine people as we do, it is a foregone conclusion that this apâ€" peal will be met with hearty response. Refreshments supplied by the Ladies‘ Guild were offered and a splendid lunch and social time followed. Mr. Jerry Trueblood proved his abiliâ€" y as a pianist by giving a popular air on the piano as weuld be played by five widely divergent artists. The result was excellent. Mr. Trueâ€" jlood should certainly develop this speâ€" cial talent. The response on Sunday was a reâ€" cord. Chairs were requisitioned for every available space in the eveningâ€" ‘he church was crowded to the doors. Special flowersâ€"chrysanthemums and iladioli placed in chancel and on orâ€" zanâ€"helped with the festive effects, and the gowned choir of 25 members rdded to the pleasing whole. This is ‘he first gowned choir in the annals of this end of the camp and the general 2omment is that the gowns add to the 1lignity of the church and its service. The Revy. F. J. Baine, of Schumachâ€" r, mads his first appearance As msacher here since his return to the ‘amp, and he expressed his great pleasâ€" ire in once more greeting old friends. His sermon was based on the text "Confusion Among the Nations"â€"and ae once more played his violin with great effect. The choir sang two anâ€" ‘hems: "Harw, Hark, My Soul," and "Bow Down FEar," with Mrs. Stanlake as soloist in the former. On Monday evening the church was the scene of a congregational social. The Rev. J.
