For McIntyre, Jack Darragh conâ€" tinued to be the essence of hard luck A half dozen times he was right in with no one to beat but during the enâ€" tire game scored only ons goal. Mayâ€" owski presented a stone wall exterior to all and sundry and played shutâ€"out hockey for two full periods, McIntyre getting their three goals in the last twenty minutes. Pender clan had a decided edge on the night‘s play. Ankerite still have one mcre game to win in order to get into the playâ€"offs. With a chance of earnirg two points with a win over Pamour in the last scheduled game of the season they can nose out Coniâ€" aurum who are now in second place and in line for a playâ€"off with Pamour. Had MoIntyre won last night‘s game they would have tied Coniaurumn fo: second place and made a playâ€"off negessary for the right to meet Pamour, who can‘t be dislodged regardless of the result of their next game a;ainst Ankerite. Sammy Fasano was the star of the night, getting five goals and an assist and giving an exhibition of back checkâ€" irg that broke up dozens of McIntyre rushes. Kennedy, with two goals and Lwo assists, and "Spider‘" McKinnon with three assists, also turned in starry performances. "Sammy" Fasano Scores Five Goals to Lead Bisons to Decisive Win. Miller and Bakâ€" er were penalized but neither team could score despite a momentary adâ€" vantage of an extra man. Both at full strength when Jack Darragh was chased for tripping McTaggart. There was less than two minutes to go to end the period but in this short space Anâ€" kerite literally tramped all over the Macs to score three goals in sixtyâ€"one seconds. Racing in, Fasano, in a swarming attack, hung up his third goal of the night, Kennedy and Mcâ€" Kinnon getting assist for their part in a smart passing play. Only seconds later Fasano laid over a madeâ€"toâ€"order pass to Kennedy who made no misâ€" takes. Just before the period ended Ray Morgan, who has missed enough sure goals in recent appearances by hitting goalies and missing open nets to win most games, shook off the jinx and brought his team‘s total to five on a pass from McKinnon. The second period went seoseles with Don Price in the McIntyre goal and Mayowski for Ankerite giving an exhibition of blocking that would be Ankcrite actually won the game in the first period, scoring five goals ard holding the Macs scoreless, In the cpening minutes, play was evenly divided, Darragh having the best scorâ€" ing chance only to shoot the puck into the side o% the net. McKinnon and| Roy Colquhoun were sent to the cool-i er for hooking and tripping respecâ€" tively and with both teams a man short Ankerite turned everything on they had. Inside of a mirnute Sammy Fasâ€" ano had scored twice, the first on a| pass from Kennedy and the second, when he caught the Macs playing every man up for a face off near the Anâ€" kerite goal. Fasano poked the puck| hard to duplicate anywhere. While nine goals beat him, Price kicked out fifty others that were hard and labellâ€" ed. The shots that beat him certainâ€" ly weren‘t of the soft variety. The third period had hardly startâ€" ed when Roy Colquhoun scored the first goal of the night for MciIntyre from centre ice. Colquhoun grabbea the puck after a face off and drifted a long floating shot that slid under Mayâ€" owski who dropped to his knees uo save. Spurred on by this turn in events McIntyre pressed hard for a few min utes but, couldn‘t beat Mayowski Morgan had a perfect chance to seore when he went in alone, faked a shot and pulled Price out only to overskate the puck on one of the nicest plays of the nisgsht. Ankerite came to the front again with Kauffman scoring on a threeâ€"way passing attack with Mcâ€" innon and Laffamme. Jack Darragh was right in on the Ankerite goal after a brilliant rush only to overskate the puck with a sureâ€" goal on the end of his stick. Fasano scored his fourth goal of the night on a solo effort, driving a hard shot that Price stopped but dropped into the net. . Darragh was finally rewarded two minutes later when he scored on a backhand scoop from in front of the Ankerite goal but at this stage the period was half gone. McIntyre hopes faded from the picture when Kennedy scored for Ankerite on a pass from Kennedy. "Dusty" Baker was given a trip to the timers for boarding Kennedy and Darragh accomâ€" panied him with a misconduct sentence for talking too much to the referee. wWith Baker in the box Fasano went through on a solo rush and hung up his fifth counter. The game was just about cver when Kaufflman and Baker dropâ€" ped their sticks and started throwing punches. They were separated by players but threatened to mix things again as they reached the penalty box. They were finally pacified however and sent to their dressing rooms. The Monarchs with their usual effecâ€" tive team work were hard to check, but the Eskimos always do play a hard losing battle, and managed to keep the Porkies away from their net. Burns, Catterello, Buckman and Mcâ€" Cann played a lovely game, and were able â€"toc reserve their strength, eyen though they played fast. Behan tried hard to even the count, and playéd good game for the Eskimos as did Olaveson. R. Gignac and the two Gauthier lads. Behan scored the first gcal for the Eskimos, shortly after the period openâ€" ed on a long shot from the Monarchs‘ blue line, and certainly put a lot of pep into the tussle. The Monarchs, feelâ€" ing that this lead shoutd be evened, put on the pressure and Thomas, makâ€" ing a lone run, and fooling the Eskies defence, who were ready for a pass, slipped past them, to draw Wash out of the ret, easing it in. Wild cheers from the spectators rewarded these boys amâ€" ply. The Monarchs played a forward game, and made it hard for the Eskiâ€" mos to break away. McDougall at 7 minut2s play, took a lovely pass from Catterello, to slip the rubber into the Eskimos twine, giving them the lead. Roger Gignac missed a lovely one, but Patser was efficient and tossed it aside. Buckman added to the Monarchs‘ lead when he was waitirg for the pass from McCann who passed from behind the net, and before anyone knew it, had eased it into the Falls‘ net. The fourth count for the Monarchs was made when Catterello scored on a lone run, and dribbling past the defence, took an efective shot. The second period was a noâ€"score one, but displayed fine hockey. Hume got slightly peeved in this period and was given a penalty. Behan kept on the trail of the rubber and a couple of times made a near score.. Gignac playâ€" ed a lovely checking game, and manâ€" aged to keep the puck around centre ice. The game was very fast in this pcriod, and Buckman, McCann and Patterson woere showirg the absolute necessity of team play. McDougall was given two minutes at the last of this period for pushing, and the Eskimos put five men forward, but were unable to score. The third period, was also a noâ€"score cne, but the goal tenders had to be on the lookout, for many shots were takâ€" en in this tilt. Burns played a lovely aggressive game, and had the Eskies not been watching, the score would have been greater. The ice was fast and even, and with many spectators to cheer the boys on, made the game worth while playing for.
