Golden City had a big week last week as well as South Porcupine. On Thursday evening the "Good Times" Club put on a Valentine dance (cosâ€" tume) in the township hall. As usual all the dancing population of Porcuâ€" pine was present and to the orchesâ€" tra‘s music danced until late. The orâ€" chestra was composed of the pianist, Miss C. Gervais, and the viclin of Luigi Rotondo. Prizes were offered for costumes and were won by (1) Mrs. Riopelle who as "Queen of Hearts" was chosen as the most artistic lady; and (1) Verdette Rotondo, who, as an Indian, gained the gentlemen‘s prize. Mr. Orville Ross as a clown also gainâ€" ed the "comics" prize. The old Tisdale hospital building is now to be sold by the township for a private dwelling. Mrs, Dowe was the first patient to have the honor of entering the hosâ€" pital. Bud Robertson came second and in all eight patients were transferred. And on Sunday also the South Porâ€" cupine Girl Guides, in uniform, wi‘tn their Capt. Miss Wilkins, went in a body (each with a donation for the shower) to look over the hospital. There were four King Scouts in uniâ€" form on duty on Sunday, acting as in our town. Many brought gifts of homeâ€"made preserves and canned goods on Saturday, but the rea "shower" came on Sunday when every. body who came brought something ancd put it on the tables placed in readiâ€" ness to receive them. The hospital partry now has a glorious sunply of bottled fruits, etc., and we are asked by Mrs. Dye (who is president of the Women‘s Auxiliary connected with the hospital) to say here how much the response to the request for this has be:n appreciated, As always, South Porcupine ladies do things well when they begin. Richardson of Toronto. They were united in marriage by the Rev. Miss Rita Desjardins and Mr. â€" Leslie Richardson Wedded. â€" Other South Porcupine News Mrs. Wm. Brown, of Pottsville, visâ€" ited relatives in the Ottawa Valley his weekâ€"end. The Valentine dance held on Tuesâ€" day in the Masonic hall under the auspices of the Eastern Star ladics, was a great social success. It was voted a very nice affair and several are asking for a repetition in the near future. The music supplied by part of the Buffaloâ€"Ankerite orchostra was excellent for dancing. finished school, put on a Valentine tea in the township hall in the afterâ€" roon from 3 to 6 pm. Their object was to buy a mat for gymnastic use. A cushion made by the girls raised a nice sum and was won by Mrs. Daâ€" vis of Pottsville. Six tea tables were set up and prettily decorated, in the hall, and well patronized during the afternoon. Miss Mary King and Miss Ramsay, teachers at the Golden City school, sponsor this club and we are glad the tea was such a success. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, of Shawâ€" Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, of Shawâ€" ville, were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fynan over the weekâ€"end. Mrs. George Helmer and Harold were visiting relatives in Campbell‘s Bay and Shawville this wesekâ€"end. A board of stewards, with Mr. George Bannerman as chairman, and Mr. Don Millar as secretary, has been organized, and a church building will be the aim of the people for the fuâ€" ture. It is hoped that the services of a student preacher may be obtained for the summer months, and the needs of the community be looked after as the place progresses.
