Bruce Millar united in marâ€" riage Miss Colina Seller Gray, youngâ€" est daughter of Mr. Robert Gray and the late Mrs. Gray, to Mr. James Gibâ€" son Chalmers, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Chalmers, of Lochgelly, Fife, Scotland. The bride was lovely in a white gown of mousselineâ€"déâ€"soie made on Princess lines with wide shirred collar and cuffs. and a small white crepe hat, with a circular veil and white accessories. Her only ornament was a string of pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of Sweetâ€" heart roses, white sweet peas and fern, tied with white â€"tulle. .Her only attendant was Miss Betty McClure, as bridesmaid, in a gown of yellow net, trimmed with powder blue collar and wide sash falling to the hem of her skirt in the back. Her accesâ€" sories were white and she carried a bouquet of Talisman roses and fern tied with matching tulle. Mr. Jack Hunter attended the groom was a beautiful enameled compact and the groom‘s gift to the best man was a combination cigarette case and lighter. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride‘s father at the Vipond Mine where about 50 guests gathered to shower the happy couple with congratulations and hbest wishes. # ""N."om'“""""†Mr. and Mrs. Chalmers will make their home in Timmins. best man The bride e bride‘s gift to the bridesmaid a beautiful enameled compact the groom‘s gift to the best man a combination cigarette case and Permission Refused for New Town Hall this Year The Ontario Railway and Municipal board won‘t let the town of Timmins build a town hall this year. That was made clear at Monday‘s council meetâ€" ing when a letter was read from E. W. Cross, chairman of the board. S view of the capital expenditure of Timâ€" mins already authorized for 1936," said Mr. Cross. "we feel that this should be deferred until 1937." The council had asked for permission to issue $90,000 deb ntures for the municipal building. "Are you willing to consider any alâ€" ternative?" asked Mayor J. P. Bartleâ€" man. ‘"or do you want to wait until Municipal Board Says Project Should be Deferred to 1937. Mayor Suggests Alternative, but Council Not Favourâ€" able. Gray‘s Shows Granted Permission to Show in Town Next Week. Radio Question Discussed. man, "or do yoUu Wa@lll 1(0 Wail UIlLli next year?" "I don‘t see that there is any alterâ€" native," replied Councillor P. H. Laâ€" ports. The mayor reminded him that there was the possizsility of turning Central school into a town all. "We‘d have to go to that question anyway, said. Grant Gray‘s Permission The council passed a motion grantâ€" ing permission to Gray‘s Shows to play in the ball park here from July 4th to July l1ith, provided they remain closed on Wednesday, July 8th, and also proâ€" vided that Gray‘s make formal appliâ€" cation for those dates. W. O. Langdon, on behalf of the Kiwanis club who are holding a street carnival on the 8th, said he had been advised that Gray‘s had been granted permission to give their show in the l}all park for the week from July 6thâ€" 11th, including the 8th. "We didn‘t give permission for the same day or even the same week," the mayor retorted. "We gave permission for a week but it wasn‘t stated what week,." IVAL the people on Mr. Laporte Published at Timmins, Ont., Canada, Eveey MONDAY and THURSDAY "They did not set any date," Counâ€" cillor Laporte agreed. "I guess we‘re obligated to give them their dates, though," the mayor said. Gray‘s shows had agreed to close on the 8th, Mr. Langdon said, but he wished the council to make certain the show really did not operate on that day. "We would be satisfied if that were enforced," the Kiwanis representâ€" ative agreed. ‘"We‘ll certainly do that," the mayor said P. T. Moisley, president of the Kiâ€" wanis club outlined the events that had led to the confusion. Gray‘s had approached the club asking them to sponsor the show, he said. The club refused. Gray‘s than agreed not to play Timmins the week of the Kiwanis carnival which had already been planâ€" ned. They were to have gone to Riverâ€" side park for the week of June 29thâ€" July 4th, but had changed plans to take in South Porcupine on July ist. Then, in coâ€"opsration with Father Theriault, the show had planned to play Timmins from July 4th to lith. The mayor had met "those two genâ€" tlemen," he said, and had discussed the plans with them. "Preference should be given home matters, especially when the objects are such as with the Kiwanis and Lions clubs," Mr. Langdon concluded. Councillor Dr. Day suggested that it might be just as well to wait until Gray‘s made proper application to the council before passing any resolution. There are a number of important matâ€" ters to discuss at a special meeting to be held this evening: at eight o‘clock and he thought Gray‘s might lbe left until then. "Of course, Councillor Day," the mayor said, "we could pass a resolution toâ€"day on condition that formal appliâ€" cation be mate." Such a motion was presented, read and passed. Mayor Disagrees on Radio A letter from the Haileybury Rotary club brought on a long discussion on the radio question. The club‘s letter asked that everyone in the North coâ€" cperate in one big effort asking the government to install a booster station somewhere in the North so that full Canadian â€" Radio Commission proâ€" grammes would be available all day and night. "We feel that if the muniâ€" cipalities organize for action, Northâ€" ern Ontario will shortly be given betâ€" ter radio reception," the letter conâ€" cluded. "I think we should writeeâ€"â€"â€"" beâ€" gan Councillor Laporte. "Have you had any complaints about radio reception?" the mayor asked him. "It‘s not continuous." "You never get the radio commission 44 hours. We get all there is," the mayor told him. "We‘d get better music with a stronger station," Councillor said. "We‘re getï¬'ing all the commission programmes now," the mayor insisted. ‘"We get nipped sometimes," Counâ€" cillor Caron said. "Commission Signs Off at Eleven" "That‘s news to me," the mayor reâ€" plied, "the commission signs off at eleven o‘clock. You‘ll hear them doing it every night. If you don‘t know anyâ€" thing about what‘s going on in our 6wn station there‘s no use talking about it." "It doesn‘t mean they‘ll be against the radio station here," said Councilâ€" lor Caron, ‘"but if there was a booster station, we get all the commission proâ€" gramimes." "They come on in the forenoon," said Councillor Cousins when the mayor stated that the commission did not begin broadcasting anywhere until four o‘clock in the afternoon. "They‘re giving it to you all the time it‘s on," Mr. Bartleman said, referring to the commission and the local staâ€" tion, "We get all they‘ll give us." "The distributing stations pay for what they get," contributed Gordon Gauthier, "Yes, that‘s the mavor continuâ€" "Yes, that‘s it," the mayor continuâ€" ed, "If you check up, you‘ll find that the commission is only on certain hours." "I think we ought to write Haileyâ€"| Week‘s Kun of the Press bury anyway," said Mr. Laporte. | "I suppose Haileybury is particularly Sudbury Star:â€"The Brantford chief interested.
