The tag day will complete the campaign for funds for carrying on the work of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Mr. D. B. Lawley, field secâ€" retary for the Institute, who lost his sight in a mine accident over 20 years ago, has been here for some days orâ€" ganizing the campaign for funds and interesting the public in this helpful work. The Institute has given valuable assistance to several in the Timmins district. The first work of the Instiâ€" tute ssems to be to bring courage and hope to those afflicted and to help them to help themselves. The Institute arranges for many of the blind to enter business for themselves and the sucâ€" cess of this policy has been evidenced in Timmins cases. The Institute also traing blind persons in trades and cccupations whereby they may be able to support themselves. Travelling teachers are a very valuable featurse of the work of the Institute. In addiâ€" tion to the matters noted, the Instiâ€" tute also provides Braille books so that the blind may enjoy reading, and in other ways assists and supports the blind. Conducted largely by blind peoâ€" ple of exceptional talent and public spirit, the Institute is doing a wonderâ€" ful work for the blind. While in Timâ€" mins Mr. Lawley addressed a number of meetings outlining the work of the Institute and winning sympathy for Campaign for Blind â€" Making Progress Preparations Well Under Way for Tag Day on Satâ€" urday of Next Week, Sepâ€" tember 21st.
