He had hosts of friends in the Porcupine district who will be pleased to read the kind things said about him, and will agree heartily. The reference is from an editOorial arâ€" ticle in last week‘s issue of The Rouynâ€" Noranda Press. The editorial in full is as follows:â€" "It is not customary to shed tears over the departure of a mining enâ€" gineer, however important or popular he may be. In the present quarter the horizon above the 250 foot level will be reached by raising and that below by a drift on the 375 foot horizon. On the west vein the north drift on the 250 foot leve! showed the vein much broken up by minor faulting and unproductive of ore as yet. On the 275 f00t level driftâ€" ing was carried south into new terriâ€" tory, but values proved low and in the present quarter this southern area will be explored by drifting on the 500 fOoot level. On the 500 foot level a crosscut picked up the west vein in the area south of the main shaft and short drift was run on ore of average grade. Owing to the proximity of "A" fault immediately above, further work on this level was discontinued and the downward extension of this ore will be approached by a drift on the 625 foot level. On the Normetal property developâ€" ment work was continued throughout the period. Drifting along Nos. 1 and 2 ore bodies has been completed on the 675 and 800 foot levels and diamond drilling with flat holes is now in proâ€" gress to establish widths and grades of ore on these levels. A crosscut east through the diabase dyke on the 500 fc¢ot level intersected the downward exâ€" tension of No. 3 ore body, formerly deâ€" veloped on the 300 foot level. A similar crosscut on the 800 foot level has just intersected this same ore ‘body. Work is proceeding at the property of* Laguna Gold Mines in the Herb Lake section of Manitoba with the main shaft completed to a depth of 500 feet on the dip of the vein and lateral work on the 375 and 500 foot levels will be proceeded with. Later word came through that the caucus would be held on Nov. 23rd, and not on the 20th. Last week announcement was made that a caucus Of the Liberals in the provincial legislature would be held on Nov. 20th in Toronto. Premigr Hepburn is said to have made the change from the 20th to the 23rd. No explanation is given for the change of date, except the suggestion from some Of the members that Hon.
