If the men decline to work for their relief, it is probable that relief will be refused. ‘That, however, is a matter for provincial relief authoriâ€" ties to determine." With a strike in the Westminster penitentiary in British Columbia, i nothing in the strike line should be conâ€" sidered unusual. There are lots of fstrikes these days, the strikes at the ! lumber camps in the Abitibi area being some of the strikes in progress at the moment. _ _One of the latest strikes and one that will attract a little special attenâ€" tion on account of some of its features is the strike reported from Gogama. More than 100 employees of the Ontario Northern Development branch at Goâ€" gama went out on strike on Sunday. They "demanded" 26 days‘ work each month with $2.00 per day as pay. Can you guess where they got this "deâ€" mand" stuff? According to the despatches the new regulations are that they work only for the amount of relief they Treceive at the rate of 25 cents per hour. Single men have been working half time and marâ€" ried men full time. NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT WORKERS GO OUT ON STRIKE Both bride and groow are popular and well known in town. The bride was on the staff of the Dominion Stores for several years, and more reâ€" cently was with the Dominion Dollar Stores. Mr. Fuhr was for some years on the Hollinger staff and later was a member of the Timmins police force previous to leaving some months ago for the West. Their many friends in town and district will extend to Mr. and Mr. Fuhr the sincerest good wishes for all happiness and prosperity in their new home. , change. â€I‘he choice that they have chosen, ’! They are very well content, } Ana the fire shall be frozen, If ever they repent. Riches are but vanity | And beauty will decay, ‘ But love is pure, ‘And will endure | Till death takes life away. i Mr. and Mrs. Fubhr left on Saturday , afternoon by motor for a trip to Hamâ€" | ilton and United States points on their { way to Pelly, Saskatchewan, where they will take up residence. The bride‘s travelling dress was of brick red crepe with brown coat, faked with brick, and coon collar, with broown accessories. | The two little flower girls, Mayzel ;ond Beryl Menear, were very sweet in long dressos of silk tulle with wide pink ,sashes white kid shoes and orange | blossom bandeaux and with bouquets in Victorian style. The groom was attended by Mr. ames Campbell. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Music was provided during the cereâ€" mony by Mrs. Wilkins. The guests at the wedding breakfast | after the ceremony included:â€"Mr. and . | Mrs. Leslie Williams, Mr. and Mrs. 'Bext Tupper, Mr. Stanley Tupper, Mr. |and Mrs. Chalmers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Worthington, Mr. J. Campbell, Mr. S. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Layman, Mr. and Mrs. Sky, Mr. B. Babcock, Misses R. Babcock, M. Lisette, L. Lenna, and | Molly Rae (Hamilton), Mesdames Meâ€" near, Wilkins, Tupper, Rankin, C. Bragegs, Drew and Yates. | f 6 | | The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful gifts too numerous to list. The groom‘s gift to the bride was a fur coat; to the maid of honour, a cheque; to each of the flower girls, a silver birthstone pendant: and a leather cigarette case to the groomsâ€" man. The bride‘s gift to the groom was a silver cigarette lighter. There was much interest in the toast given to the bride and groom by Mr. J. Worthington. It was as follows:â€" Here‘s to the sand upon the shore. They love but one, they love no The world is wide for them to reign. _ They love their choice tno well to jlaugh Thom: Church Wedding on Saturday Last Week ht il The At the United Church, Timmins, on turday of last week, Sept. 22nd. was a pretty church wedding en Miss Gladys Mary Thomas, only ughter of Mr. and Mrs, T. Timmins, on Sept. 22nd. irch wedding Budbury Star:â€"Unfortunately the car that kept the family on the go all summer won‘t keep the furnace going, "Of course it is recognized here that the president of a company cannot come out and correct or endorse every rumor which the street sees fit to start bout the operations or prospects of his company; but Mr. Timmins has made it cbvious that a few words are all that is necessary to keep a sane public attitude towards a company‘s activities. The chances are almost certain that, if some statement had not come officially from Hollinger, that $55,000,000 estiâ€" mate would have gradually worked itâ€" self into $100,000,000. Favourable ruâ€" mors have a way of growing like that. The Hollinger management â€" ly deserves a pat on the back. If the managements of all mining organizaâ€" tions in Canada would follow the same procedure, the mail which reaches this office would not be filled with protests against stock market action of certain stocks; and there would be less insisâ€" tence that somebody should start a campaign to introduce stock market control in Canada along the lines which have been adopted in Washington." "Now N. A. Timmins, president of Hollinger, has come out with the folâ€" lowing: "That statement is manifestly an error, as sufficient work has not been done to justify any estimate of ore in sight. It is true that diamondâ€" drilling results were favourable, but it will take several months‘ development before it would be fair to make any statement about the property,." "The management of Hollinger Conâ€" solidated Gold has just given a fine illustration of its appreciation of reâ€" sponsibility to shareholders and to the investigating public. It will be recallâ€" ed that last week the stock hit a new high of $21.65 on the local market :; and though the company has been doâ€" ng remarkably well in the way of dividends there was a general feeling on the street that something more than a laudable dividend policy was playing a part in pushing the stock up the scale. So a variety of rumors began to circulate. One of the rumors was that Hollinger had hit it particularly welil on its new property in Hislop township in the Beatyyâ€"Munro area. A private engineer not connected with Hollinger, who, it was understood, had an opportunity to look over the proâ€" perty, came back with the Observation that Hollinger had $55,000,000 worth of ore blocked out to the 500â€"foot level on its new holdings. That was naturally bullish, and the statement, when spread around the street, must have had some bearing on public attitude towards Hol â€" linger stock. The Toronto ‘Mail and Empire on Tuesday of this week had the followâ€" ing good words to say in regard to Hollinger:â€" It is a good idea to clip out this schedule and keep for future reference. Dec.
