After the business was concluded all the brethren adjourned for the banquet and entertainment downstairs. VISIT OF MASONIC D.D.G.M, TO GOLDEN BEAVER LODGE 8 am. at. the McIntyre Mine. Pive men were in the accident, two of them losing their lives as a result. The men had just come on shift and were workâ€" Ing at an ore chute at the end of one of the stopes. The chuis had been pulled the night before. It was exâ€" amined before the men went to work and had below it the "crater" effect that usually signifies that the chute is working smoothly,. . The other indicaâ€" tions, also seemed to suggest that all was well. However, later events seem to prove that there was a "hangâ€"up" in the chute. When the men went to work Friday morning it is likely that their weight loosened the ore thus hungâ€"up. In any event the rock fell dragging the five men in and partly burying them. R. Copps was smothered in the ore and was likely killed inâ€" stantly. E. Parent, aged 28, single, and living in Schumacher was rescued afâ€" ter 8 hours of excavation. He was inâ€" jured internally and died in the hosâ€" pital on Monday morning. A. Blake was dug out of the ore in seven hours. He suffered from bruises and shock but was able to leave the hospital this week. J. Jackson was caught to about the knees. He was dug out in about an hour. He was able to go home himâ€" self little the worse for the terrible exâ€" perience. G. Parkovich, the fifth man in the group, was only caught by the feet and was able to get out himself and give the alarm that set every man that could be used in the space to the work of rescuing the men caught in the fallen ore. As in the case of all mining accidents where a death occurs, an inquest will be held. The inquest on the two men dying as a result of the accident will likely be held on Friday of this week at Schumacher with Coroner F. C. Evans presiding. Husbandâ€""Who is that man?" George Gozak, of Schumacher, was charged with assaulting a woman at a hotel there. He claimed he pushed her gently away from him, but as the doctor specified for the bruises frowm which she suffered the Magistrate deâ€" cided Gozak was not such a gentle creature and prescribed three month: of a taming process at Haileybury, jail Two reckless drivers paid $25.00/ and costs. In one case the Magistrate utâ€" terly discredited what appeared to be a fixed story. A dispute over a boundary line in the neighbourhood of Hoyle had resulted in a charge of assault, but was dismissed, and a wages case was sent to Division Court as a contract. Mrs. E. L.
