The trouble arose over a suit of clothes on which he had been paid. a deposit and the complainant claimed that he had been unable to secure the suit and that a cheque given him for the return of his money had ri0t been honoured by the bank. As the suit was made available to him in the interval between the laying of the charge and the trial, the case was disâ€" missed. S. Silver charged G. Morand, of Thres Nations, with the theft of pulpwood. This case was remanded to toâ€"day‘s court. A township of Tisdale citizen was charged with the theft of two dogs, but the case was dismissed. Paddy Blackburn, cn s charge of housebreaking in connection with the breaking into of a house on Kirby aveâ€" nue, was sentenced to three months at Haileybury. The case against another man who was charged along with him was dismissed. On a charge by Provincial Officer David McCulloch R. Grant was fined $100.00 and costs for illegally having liquor. Two other liquor cases, where a couple of men resident on Sixth avenue were charged with illegally having liâ€" quor, were remanded until toâ€"day. the $22.50 required and asked to stay sober at the next thirty days. fore the court, ‘two of them being adâ€" journed until toâ€"day. Two cthers were fined $50.00 and costs each as they had previous convictions against them. One of these cculd not raise the amcunt asked and leaves this week for Haileyâ€" | bury for two months. Pearce on Priday, March 28th, was unâ€" der the auspices of the Ladies Auxilâ€" lary of the Canadian Legion, of which Mrs. Pearce was a member from the organization of the branch. Rev. Bruce Millar conducted the services at the S. T. Walker undertaking parlours. Owing to the crowded conditions at the funeral parlours the Ladies‘ Auxilâ€" liary was unable to carry out the funâ€" eral rituals of their order at the parâ€" lours, but this service will be conducted by the Auxiliary when the coffin is lowered at the cemetery in the course of the next few weeks. He was seriously wounded during the war and one leg is still suffering the effects of war injuries Probably because of this leg he tripped on the cellar steps and fell down to the floor beneath. In the fall! he fractured his skull as well as sustaining some minor injuries. He was hurried to St. Mary‘s hospital at Timmins where at present he is doing unusually well in progressing to recovery.
