GASE AGAINST KRANKOVIGA TO BF HEARD AT SOUTH END At police court here on Wednesday this week Ivan Krancovich faced a charge of an offence under the Emâ€" ployment Agents‘ Act. His solicitor, Dean Kester, asked that the case might be tried in the Tisdale police court, his client being a resident of Tisdale, and the €ourt agreed to the change of venue. The case is to come up at South Porâ€" cupine this (‘Thursday) afternoon. The charge against Krancovich arises from allegations that the accused was paid money to assure a position at the mine for a fellow countryman. The charge was laid by the provincial police. The accident occurred about oneâ€"quarâ€" ter mile from ‘town, just about at the same place where the car hit the steam roller last year. It is said that shortly beyond this place there is a very bad bump in the road. The truck has the rear hind wheel badly driven in on the right side. The mudâ€"guards on this side are practically torn off and the panel of the door is also partly torn off. But it is the view of the front half of the car that makes one realize how lucky the occupants were to esâ€" Mr. E. Mrs. Morley and son, of Cochrane, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Childs, in is only twenty years of age. Her father, Mr. F. Laforest, will probably go to Toâ€" ronto this week to attend her convocaâ€" tion which takes place on Friday, June 6th. Some of Miss Hattie Johns‘ friends will remember her faculty for getting the right bus even if she had to run for it. Hattie has not changed even though she has been in Toronto for some time. On Monday, May 19th, she was hurrying to get a Yonge car at Bay street when she slipped and fell but nevertheless she got the car,â€"then fainted on it. So she was taken to the Toronto General hospital where it was found she had a badly sprained ankle and had to take an enforced rest. We are pleased to congratulate Miss Alma Laforest, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Laforest, on obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree at Toronto University this year. Alma is a former pupil of the South Porcupine schools and the fact that she now can sign B.A. after her name is a credit, not only to her own ability but also to the schools which she has gone through for she Messrs Eugenio Tiovesan, Luigi Rigaâ€" to and Corrado Andreatta, of South Porcupine and the Dome, are sailing on the Majestic on June 6th for Italy. On Tuesday evening we noticed the large moving van of the MacLellan Transfer Truck Company, of Kirkland Lake, passing through town. The roads must be in good shape now to allow trucks of that size on them and it will simplifiy the matter of moving once this type of truck can be used. Messrs E. J. An cmission was made last week in giving the cast of the play, "Never Say Die" so well by the Young People‘s Society of the United Church. In the reference last week the name of Miss Anne Scott, who took the part of "Madame Natche" with such effective skill, was inadvertently omitted. cape with only minor cuts. The bumpâ€" ers are a tangled mass. The radiator is flattened out like a pancake and we believe was picked up some twentyâ€" five yards away from where the car was. The two front wheels are a wreck. We were told that the hub of one had to be ï¬edged out of the side of the truck where it had become imâ€" bedded by the impact. The engine is considerably damaged and all the glass is gone from the windshield. Mr. H. M. Wilson came along shortly after the collision and helped to rush the injures men to the Presbyterian hospital here. The case was taken in charge by Proâ€" vincial Traffic Officer Morrow, of Porâ€" quis Jct., who happened to be patrollâ€" ing this section just at the time of the accident. He also took one man to the hospital. The driver of the truck was Zephirin St. Pierre, of Timmins, and the occupants of the car were Andy Varedy, of Timmins, and B. Cousineau, of Schumacher. They were all able to be released from the hospital on the same evening which they entered. There are many conflicting accounts as to just how the accident occurred but at any rate they must have been going at a good rate for such a terrific bang to be given both vehicles. One of the participants was jailed we beâ€" lieve after his release from the hospiâ€" tal and more definite particulars will probably come to light in Thursday‘s police court.
