Many from here attended the big swim at Golden City on Sundav. We are pleased to congratulate Master Gordon Gauthier, the winner, on his success. Jack, his younger brother, was a close second and the majority here claim he would have finished even with him, had he not taken a wider sweep than his brother at the turn. We believe Masster Gordon did this mile and a half in thirtyâ€"four minutes one evening, a day or so before the race when the water was warmer. There are many admirers of Master Jack in this vicinity who feel that he can do as well or better than what was done in Sunday. Miss Violet McNulty was the only entry from South Porcuâ€" pine who finished the course. Herbrothâ€" er Christie also but did not#inish owing to cramps. In spite of the unâ€" favourable weather crowds thronged the bsach at every vantage point. There was a real traffic jam owing to ‘he narrowness of the road and the double lines of parked cars from the Pottsville bridge almost to Rotondo‘s store.
