CHEVROLET 1927 The return game of Badminton beâ€" tween McIntyre and the Timmins team is to be played toâ€"morrow (Friday) evening at Schumacher, and the Badâ€" minton fans say that no one should miss this. The McIntyre team came over to the High School on Monday evening and the Timmins team won most of the games. They hope to reâ€" peat their victory at Schumacher, but the McIntyres say that is not to be. There are a large number of Badâ€" There are a large number of Badâ€" minton fans in Timmins at present. Mr. D. Neill, who is an enthusiast for the game, says that fully forty here have signified their desire to play. In Satult Ste. Marie badminton has acâ€" hieved outstanding popularity there being over 400 members in the Badâ€" minton club of that city. The badminton enthusiasts here at present are considering the securing and equipping of a building for games. The roller rink is being considered at the present time and may be taken over for the purposes of the clubs enâ€" jcying badminton. The fans say that it is the best game yet invented. Those who have played it are "simply wild about it." Accordingly those who know the game should be at the Schumacher games on Friday this week, May 10th, while the same event will be a fine place for those who would like to see the game and learn how they would like it. ONCE MORE A WORD ABOUT ANONYMOUS CONTRIBUTIONS Literally hundreds of times The Adâ€" vance has pointed out that no reputâ€" able newspaper will accept any conâ€" tribution the source of which is not known. This week The Advance reâ€" ceived by mail a reference to a cribâ€" bage tournament. It may be all right, and then again it may not. No newsâ€" paper will take any chances. IV‘ .1s imperative that a newspaper knows where its information comes from. It surely is no special trouble to add your name and address to any item sent. Your name will not be used if this is not desired. But the name must be given. Anonymous notes, letters, or whatâ€"haveâ€"you are as popular in a deâ€" cent newspaper office as a skunk at a garden party. This has been emphasâ€" ized scores and scores of times, yet people continue to break the rule. It doesn‘t do anybody any good and has no effect except to strain the waste paper basket and the temper. The Advance very gladly * welcomes comâ€" munications of ary kind, and particuâ€" larly news items whether personal notes or other references. But none of these can be used nor will be used, unless it is known where they originate. No newspaper can be expected to use an item which the writer will not enâ€" dorse even to the extent of signing his or her nameâ€"not for publication. THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIO VCâ€"11â€"5â€"29B J. E. Hammell, presid¢ent of the Howey Gold Mines, announced at Toâ€" ronto Tuesday evening that construcâ€" tion of the 500â€"ton mill at the Howey would be proceeded with at once in order that it may be ready by the time that power is available for its operaâ€" tion. "They all said they weren‘t hungry â€"but look at the platter!" That‘s how it goes when you cook your slice of ham in Borden‘s St. Charles Milk, according to the recipe below. The mustard filavour is cooked in, and there‘s a suggestion of cloves, too â€"â€"besides the extraâ€"rich milk which gives every dish a superior savor and nutritive value. Be sure to use St. Charles milkâ€"ordinary milk is too thin. "You‘ll be surprised how different this dish is from just plain ham. Baked Ham With St. Charles 1 slice ham cut abBout 1 inch thick, with rim of fat. 1 tablespoon sugar. 1 cup Borden‘s St. Charles M"k. 1 teaspoon mustard. 1 tablespoon flour. 1 teaspoon ground cloves. I cup water. Trim off rim of fat and ‘cut in very small pieces. Thoroughly mix flour and mustard and pat into ham. Place in rather deep pan. Mix together cloves and sugar and rub through the fat; place over top of ham. Dilute milk with water and pour over ham to cover. Bake in a moderate oven until ham is tender, about one hour. Add more milk as needed to cover ham while baking. soOME "TIMMINS TIPS" FROM LAST ISSUE C. N. P. REVIEW In the current issue of The C.N.P.C. Review, issued for the employees of the Canada Northern Power Corporaâ€" tion, there are the following paraâ€" graphs of Timmins news and views, under the heading of "Timmins Tips": During the past month we were very glad to welcome to our division Messrs. Harrison, Douglas and Day from Head Office: also Mr. Aitchison, of Montreal. Congratulations to Mr. James Aspin, or Jimmie, as he is more familiar known among us, upon his success durâ€" ing the recent Washing Machine Camâ€" paign. Selling seventeen machines during his first month of store life is quite an achievement, and certainly goes to prove Jimmie‘s prowess as a salesman. We are wondering if washâ€" ing machines are his speciality. We are very glad to welcome Mr. Bert McQuarrie, of Cobalt, to our diviâ€" sion as bookkeeper. J. A. Robb Moves Amendment to Resolution in Budget in Regard to Tax on the "Penny Stock" Just for the moment the Central Kamiskotia Company is the only comâ€" pany actively at work in the Kamiskoâ€" tia field. For the present, owing to transportation difficulties or for other reasons other properties are taking a brief idle spell, but the Central Kamisâ€" kotia is humming along and is meetâ€" ing with excellent results. Some samâ€" ples brought out this week by Major Barton roused enthusiasm wherever shown. Major Barton, who has charge of the cperations at the Central Kamâ€" iskotia, had some snapshots of parts of the trail to the property, the picâ€" tures suggesting that a roadway as well | as a railroad would not be out of place. At the present minute there is neither a road nor a railway for properties |such as the Central Kamiskotia. _ As soon as the summer comes it is exâ€" | pected that there will be very general activity in the Kamiskotia district. This will be particularly true if the railway materializes as expected. A number of properties have planned much work at Kamiskotia this sumâ€" mer, and if the railway is started there will be a great impetus given this work.
