Why Not Buy Your Soft Drinks made with the best Spring water of Northern Ontario? SPRING WATER BOTTLING WORKS Jos. Clusiau, prop. Telephone 60 P.O,. Box 19 sOUTH PORCUPINE Warehouse in Timmins at 108 BALSAM STREET SOUTH ATTENrAON HOUSEHOLDERS By Order of THE BOARD OF HEALTB Time in California TRAIN KILLED DEER ON THE T. N. 0. RAILWAY LAST WEEK Train No. 47 on the T. N. O. Railway killed a deer on the track one day last week. The accident happenâ€" ed at Mileage 50, between Kenny and Redwater stations, this side of North Bay. There were three deer on the track as the train came along. Two of them got off at the side of the track and made for the bush: The third deer because of panic, apparentâ€" ly, did not stir from the track with the result that before the train could be stopped the animal was struck and killed. Contrary to the oPinion of some thoughtless people who maybe imagine that trainmen would get some fun out of chasing an animal on the track, the truth is that the ordinâ€" ary train crew would do almost anyâ€" thing to avoid injuring or killing deer or anything else. Apart from the fact that the vast majority of trainmen are good fellows who would greatly dislike hitting anything or anybody, there is the truth that they hate any and every sort of an accident. Every time there is any sort of an accident even though they are in no way to blame, the trainmen feel as if a mark had been made against iTheir good record. Also, ‘they realizeâ€"fnobody more fully,â€"that an accident is alâ€" ways dangerous and that it is a much simpler trick to get a train off the track than to get it on again. Someâ€" times a very small obstruction will cause a derailment, if conditions hapâ€" pen to be right for such a matter, and every derailment holds in it the chance for loss or damage to property or life. Because of the carefulness of the T. N. O. trainmen, the line holds its very enviable record of never having caused the death of a single passengei and also having the lowest proportion of injuries to persons and property of any railroad operating in Ontario over a large number of years.
