PLEASURE ICE CREAM PARLOUR New stt anrmsite \ is cove Last week the fire chiefs and deputies of the Ontario Forestry Depart. °nt met in Toronto for a convention and course of instruction. There were twentyâ€"seven called in from various parts of the North by Hon. Wm. Finâ€" layson for the conference on subjects dealing with the duties of the forest fireâ€"rangers. The gathering this year was so successful and promises such helpful results that it is understood Hon. Mr. Finlayson intends to make it a yearly feature, enlarging on the idea and having it, as it were, a school of instruction for the fireâ€"ranging force of the province. Lectures on fireâ€"fightâ€" ing, weather observations, measureâ€" ments, and other features of the serâ€" vice, as well as on the air service, will be featured, the lecturers all to be men of distinction in their particular lines. At the convention last week all parts of the North were represented. H. Pritchard and T.~ E. Pritchard, of Timmins, in the death on Sunday, Jan. 20th, of their mother, Mrs. M. Pritchard, who passed away at Hepburn hospital Odgensburg, N.Y., at the age of 73 years. The late Mrs. Pritchard had been ill for about a year and so her death was not altoâ€" gether unexpected, though coming as a decided shock. The funeral took place on Tuesday of last week at Brockville, Ont., services being held at the United Church and at the graveside. The Presbyterian minister from Ogdensburg journeyed to Brockville to assist in the services, volunteering this as a mark of sincere appreciation for the life and character of the late Mrs. Pritchard. Mr. â€"W. HK. Pritchardâ€"and Mr. T. K. Pritchard, of Timmins, were at Brockâ€" ville last week attending the funeral of their mother, while another son, Dr. J. A. Pritchard, of Ogdensburg, N.Y., was also among the mourners. The large attendance at the funeral and the many beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which the late Mrs. M. Pritchard was held by all who knew cher.
