Following an illness of several weeks, Mrs. Arthur Seguin passed peacefully away on Monday evening at her home on Second avenue. late Mrs. Seguin was in her 24th year and had been a resident of Schumachâ€" er since 1922, coming here with her husband shortly after their marriage in Kirkland Lake, Ont. PORCUPINE BASIN MINES HAS BEEN INCORPORATED According to a despatch from Toâ€" ronto last week, an announcement of interest was that of the incorporation of a new mining company by the name of Porecupine Basin Mines, Limited. Two hundred gacres of mining lands situated in the centre of \Vlntne\ Township in the Porcupine mining division, have been acquired and will be exploited by the new mining comâ€" pany. Work on the properties will progeed simultaneously with developâ€" ment on the Hunter Mines at Poreuâ€" pine Lake and the Scottishâ€"Ontario. properties recently taken over by the Canusa Mining Company, Limited. The effect of these joint operations ayill undoubtedly restore some of the. glamor. enjoyed ~by this area «in. the pioneer days of Porecupine. The new venture is sponsored by W. Mornâ€" ing Classes in 1.0.0.F. Hall. Lectures in Central School Friday of this week, March 30th, Mr. Scott, will be at the Timmins High School to conduct the examinaâ€" tions for those wishing to qualify for stationary and hoisting : engineers‘ papers. The examinations will comâ€" mence at 9 a.m.. These examinations are conducted at various centres to accommodate those wisling to secure certificates as stationary and hoisti engineers. On Monday of this 'wegg similar examinations were held . at Haileybury and on Wednesday at Kirkland Lake. To those wishing to qualify as stationary or hoisting enâ€" gineers these examinations at local centres mean a greéeat saving in time PROGPECTORS‘ CLASSES START HERE NEXT WEEK and expense. The classes for prospectors, held in this and other districts for years with success, are to start at Timmins: on Thursday next, April 5th, and will be: earried on for eight . days The¢ classes have always been of service and value and this year will no doubt be of equal interest and usefulness. For years these classes were under the direction of Dr. W. L. Goodwin, who proved himself an ideal instrucâ€" tor and adviser. It is believed that Dr. E. M. Burwash, who will conduct the" classes thisâ€"~year, will be equally sucéessful. Dr. Burwash was formâ€" erly lecturer in geology at the Uniâ€" versity of British Columbia and he has a wide reputation as an expert in geology with a wide knowledge and experience. Prospectors and imining men who wish to brush up on their knowledge of prospecting, geology and mining ~matters generally will find these classes of much advantage and benefit. The classes for prospectors open in the 1.0.0.F. hall on Thursday, April 5th, at 10 a.m. The course will cover the practical study. of . minerals . and practice in mineral spottlng and 1ocLs, also instruction in elementary eology and.chemistry. _ '.fl In addition to the day classes there will be evening lectures by Dr. Burâ€" wash on geological topiecs.
