Ramsay the New Councillors Last Week the V acancies on the Town Council Board were Filled by the Election of Two New Members by Acclaâ€" mation, Only Two of Those Nominated Qualifying for Office. Last week Messrs R. Richardson, T. N. O. agent at Timmins, and Chas. P. Ramsay, of the Hillâ€"Clarkâ€" Francis staff, were duly elected by acclamation to fill the two places on the council board for 1928. The noâ€" minations were held on Thursday last between twelve noon and one o‘clock, and four men were nominated. This four were Messrs Richardson and Ramsay and Mark Bowie and Frank Kehoe. As soon as the nominations were completed, Messrs Richardson and Ramsay duly qualified for office. Neither of the other two qualified within the time specified, so the two mentioned were duly declared elected by acclamation. Ramsay. tane 8 ks An English immigrant, who had been in Canada only a few months, arrived at Cobalt some days ago from New Liskeard and sought the aid of the police as he was hungry, ill, and could not find work. He was in the position of a vagrant, but as he comâ€" plained about being ill, a doctor was summoned and it was found that the man was quite ill. As a consequence he was "sent to the hospital, after beâ€" ing committed as a vagrant by a local justice of the peace at Cobalt. _ A coal miner by trade, the man said he had worked at various work in the North, but had not been able to secure any permanent employment and so had moved around so much that he could not legally be considered as a resident of any municipality. He is being cared for at the hospital and when he recovers no doubt effort will be made to secure employment for him. There will be very general symâ€" pathy extended to Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Brown, 11 Cambrai avenue, in the death of their little son, Elmer. The sad event occurred on Monday mornâ€" ing about 7 o‘clock, death being due to intestinal trouble. The little lad was only three years old at the time of death. The funeral took place on Wednesday morning at 10.30 to the United Church and thence to the Timâ€" mins cemetery. â€" Rev. J. D. Parks conâ€" ducted the services. A younger sister of the little lad has also been ill, but is now reported as improving satisfactorily.
