admir for D ders T\ to ed interest of t eyÂ¥bury fully he did noid ftotr tion mind AM VC The Province of Manitoba has adopted the plan of correspondence courses to provide educational facilities for children in sparselyâ€"settled disâ€" tricts where it is impossible to maintain schools convenient for the accommoâ€" «lation of the children. Ontario adopted such a plan a couple of years ago, and now over one hundred children who would otherwise be deprived of the opportunity for education are able to carry on the necessary studies at home. â€" Thanks to the farâ€"sightedness and special interest of the Minister of Education, Hon. G. Howard Ferguson, the correspondence courses in Ontario have been singularly succeessful. The fact that they mean education for a hundred children who would otherwise go without opportunity for schooling speaks for itself. British Columbia was the leader in Canada in this corâ€" respondence school plan, and Saskatchewan nd Alberta and Ontario were amony the pioneers in using these helpful courses. In a second letter to the daily newspapers on the matter of the shameâ€" tul number of automobile accidents in this country, Sir Thomas White places the matter in a way that deserves the widest publicity and attention. Sir Thomas says:â€"*‘ What should we say to our Medical Officer of Health if we had as many deaths annually from typhoid fever in Toronto as we have from motor killing? And what should we say to our aldermen if they refused to vote him the necessary funds to control such an epidemic?â€" The fact is the motor car is so common. We are so accustomed to the traffice and its acciâ€" «dents that we fail to appreciate either the magnitude of its mortality or the importance of its effectual control. We avert our eyes from the massacre and hypnotize ourselves into the belief that it is inevitable."" 11 an official should be appointed at onee by the Government so that work being done for fish and game conservation may not be offset appointing of a competent game warden for the Porcupine dist will take all the, time and effort of one good man to properly area so far as fish and game are concerned. As The Advance pointed out, the present plan of leaving the enforeing of the GAME WARDEN SHOULD BE APPOINTED FOR THE PORCUPINE CAMP. All who have given any study to the matter are agreed that the cial regulations regarding fish and garme are vital to the conservation may be termed the wild life of the North Land. Yet all regulations less unless there is strict enforcement. In regard to fish and part of the North, the lack of enforeement of the law is undoing good work being carried on by many different agencies and organ Wild ducks and geese are being slaughtered out of season.. The idea may perhaps be better exemplified by iTustraâ€" i than by é.\'planation. One example is the f@aet that Timmins has spent r a anillion dollars for educational facilities for the children of the disâ€" ‘t in the past ten years. The modern hospitals at Iroquois Falls, Timmins, ‘hrane, New Liskeard and Haileybury further illuetrate the thought in id. Probably the most complete example of the idea comes from Elk e.
