Negotiations on this deal have been going on over a considerable period, and many rumours have sprung up as to the situation. Lacking knowledge of just what was going on, it is only natural that some of theso rumours should have been a bit wild. _ What has happened is of great 1importance to Noranda and to the Rouyn Camp A despatch this week from Montâ€" real reads as follows :â€" What is regarded by mining men as perhaps the most important deâ€" velopment to date in the Quebec minâ€" ing field is the announcement that an arrangement has been reached by Noranda Mines, Limited and N. A. Timmins, whereby Noranda acquires Mr. Timmins‘ interest in the Waiteâ€" Montgomery and Aldersonâ€"MacKay properties,. By this transaction, Noâ€" randa secures an 81 per cent, interest in the Waiteâ€"Montgomery property and approximately 70 per cent. in the Aldersonâ€"MacKay Mine. Mr. Timâ€" mins completes the respective option payments on each property and reâ€" ceives for his interests treasury shares of Noranda Mines, Limited. The deal gives Noranda additional large bodies of highâ€"grade ore immeâ€" diately available for their smelters. It also asures the rapid development of both properties and the consequent benefit to Noranda. Mr. Timmins was already a very heavy holder of Noâ€" randa stock and his acquisition of these additional blocks make him the dominating figure of the Quebec minâ€" ing field. The step is a constructive one from all points of view and should meet with general approval. Indications at the present time are that Towagmae Exploration Company in general. It really means that Mr. Tlmmms is taking Noranda shares for his interests in the other properties, and by this means, in effect merging his holdings in the camp. atecte oc taateaite ate denatectecy AMALGAMATION OF BiG INTERESTS IN ROUYN CAMP * *se*, ®, * 9n a*, a*na"na*s 2*s 282 2* n snn snn‘ o 168. 14 n in n t na*na * ns ae*s a*. onofoooo‘oooo 5* 2 0000000"0000000000000003000000030ooo00.90.00000?ouooolunoooooooooooo'oo:ot..oooooooeoo P es 00 ea _6 000 »ele o+ Noranda Reported as Securing Conâ€" trol of Waiteâ€"Montgomery and Aldersonâ€" McKay. The permits are printed on tough, heavy paper, but as they will be in use a comparatively long time, holders will do well to secure strong covers for same so as to stand handling. On the back of the permit there are 52 spaces for entering purchases. Each purchase of liquor must be endorsed on the permit by the vendor. The back of the permit is ruled off to show date, quantity, kind of liquor, and vendor‘s initials. eeles! #4* #* #4 #@ # #4 @ # #4* # # #4 #, Lo #% < #* w _ @ l # *# 44 # tb *4 # *# ##4 #4 w # *4 # La #4 # # ¢#4 + «# *4 * #@ #4 # < ®, .0 # * #4 #,. .@ 4: #*4 + # #* # + #* *# <6 ##* ®, weles? *4 @ l *#+* *4 @ *# #* ## C 4 #* # # *4 # + *4 #@ # #4 ## \ *4# 4 # *# #* # « ## #* #..*, o ** @, < *# #+% *s,*, # #4 Under the Liquor Control Act of Onâ€" tario, permits for the purchase of liâ€" quor were ready at Timmins on Wedâ€" nesday morning,â€"the same time that they were available at Toronto and other large centres. < Mr. T. Taschereau, went back into power in the provincial elections on Monday. Hon. Mr. Taschereau and party have a larger majorty than beâ€" lore. The returns show 72 Liberals, 2 Independent Liberals and only 10 Conservatives. The city of Montreal even went back on the Conservative party in the proyince. Monday the Liberals got seven seats in Montreal where at the previous election they had only two. On odd feature of the election was the celection of Aime Guertin, Conservative candidate for Hull. This is the first time in thirty years that a Conservative candidate has represented Hull. Quebee proâ€" vince has had a Liberal party in power now for 30 yeas. As one newspaper puts it :â€"Liberals in Quebee province have been voting for Hon. Mr. Tasâ€" chereau because he is called a Liberal; Conservatives have been voting for him because he is safe and sane and LIBERALS AGAIN SWEEP THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC will continue to hold its interest in the Aldersonâ€"MacKay Mine. This will imnake little difference in the situaâ€" tion, although at various times it has been rumoured that Towagmae might swing into the deal also. Reports in the past two weeks, supplemented by discoveries on the Aldersonâ€"MacKay property, indicate that this mine is developing into one of major imporâ€" tance, which makes the situation inâ€" teresting for both Noranda and Towâ€" acmac.
