Kennedy, defeated candidate for the reeveship,; asked permission to speak. He was readily given it and proceedâ€" ed to criticize the work done under the past regime of C. V. This he did not do, stating that it was the work in town. The audience was ealled upon to choose chairman, and Mr. reeveâ€"elect Gallagher and his councilâ€" lors, were called to the platform by ‘Gene Colombo to speak to the people. They thanked their supporters, those who had past experience, viz. Gallaghâ€" er, Kerr and Laforest, telling their efforts in the past and all telling of their hopes for the coming nine months. Mr. Gallagher spoke at length again re the auditing of the books of the township, stating he would like to see it done if it could be so arranged that if the audit were found incorredt, the present‘ auditors would refund to the treasury whatâ€" ever reeimbursement they had received for auditing same. But that if the present audit were found to be corâ€" reat that only those who were petiâ€" tioning for a second audit would be financially responsible by taxation or otherwise for the added expense. They spoke of the great capital exâ€" penditure that had been neeessary in the past few years to give Tisdale that for which her residents were elamourâ€" ing, viz. better sehool accommodation, waterworks, roads, ete. Now we had conveniences, etc., the time had come to retrench. Some of the councillors also signified their wish for an audit could it ‘be done in a way to financialâ€" ly protect those who were not grumblâ€" ing about the present Government audit. Mr. Kerr explained why it would not have been possible to take over the Light and Power as a public utility under existing eireumstances, hence the necessity of the franchise which the people voted for. On Monday night after the show, accusations made. _ This Mr. Gallaâ€" gher did, explaining that if they had not offered to pay 10% of the cost of the trunk road here, they would not yet have it. Tmmins had offered 5% for its extension to the Mattagami but did not get it till the municipality agreed to the 10% asked by the Proâ€" vincial Government. Mr. Kennedy still persisted that it was a precedent that should not have been set. As to the waterworks, money had been held back until the contractors righted any faulty part of their inâ€" stallation. Another whist drive and dance will be held next Monday at 7.45 p.m. A very pleasant time is assured to all. Mr. Kerr was asked to answer the geccusation that he had come in on nomination day and brought a clique with him to run the affairs of the townâ€" The Alâ€"Britain Social Club held a very pleasant whist drive and dance on Monday evening in the Moose hall.
