These courses, it was thought, could be provided for by the huilding of two wings to the present High School, to be used solely for technical classes and accommodations. _ They would anclude as a general scheme six elass rooms allotted as follows:â€" Commer@®al department, three classâ€" rooms, each with typewriting annex; Household Science, oneclassâ€"room, with a sewing room (dressmaking and millinery); Mechanical department Mr. V. H. Emery, chairman of the High School Board, and Messrs D. Ostrosser, and C. R. Murdock left this week for Toronto to interview the Deâ€" partment of Education relative to the proposal to establish Technical day classes in connection with the Timâ€" mins High School. At a meeting of the High School Board some days ago it was decided to send this commuttee to Toronto to take the matter up with the Government. Constable Dunsford, of the Proâ€" vincial Police, at Englehart, has been transferred to Kapuskasing, where he will be stationed with Provincial Offiâ€" cer Franks, it being considered well to have two Provincial men at this post in view of the rapid development of the town and district and the large number of men gathered there now. Constable Devlin, of St, Thomas, will take the place of Constable Dunsford, at Englehart. A euchre and dance will be held in the Oddfellows hall, Timmins, on Friday evening, Maurch l1th. There will be good prizes. Music will be by the High School orchestra~ Reâ€" freshments will be served. Euchre at A good time According to this outlineâ€" there would be seven classâ€"rooms and ten auxiliary rooms, but for a few years, it was decided that a separate classâ€" room for mining pupils need not hbe pruhded the wsn{ts of the survey suegesting that the demand hardly wal;ranted separate room accommoâ€" dation for mining study. In the surâ€" veyy; the prospective pupils declared themselves as follows:â€"C ommercial, 65; â€" Mechanical, 4o Househuld Science, 15; Mining, 1. Most of those signing Iur \Iechamcal courses have in view entrance into the machine shops connected with the mines, and when the content of the course in mining becomes known it is that the number enrolling for this study will increase. However in the meantime the Advisory Commuttee and the High School Board are agreed on recommending only six classâ€"rooms and the use of the extra space for acâ€" commodation â€" forâ€" practical _ work. The classâ€"rooms should accommodate 25 pupils each. two classâ€"rooms, with woodâ€"working room, metalâ€"working room and draftâ€" ing room, with one geology and â€"minâ€" ing laboratory, one ore dressing laborâ€" atofy, one assaying and balance room, and one physics room. H. Ferguson, Hon. Charles MeCrae and Hon. Finlayson. Roads were needed if settlers were to stay on the land and farm it after the timber, had heen cut, it was contended.
