FANCY OREGS CARNIVAL AT TIMMINS RINK fEB. 22 TIMMINS TUXLS<WIN FROM COGHAANE IGERS 14 to 1 Ard Even at That the KLocal L Didn‘t Play the Combination They Should and Can Play. There were about 500 present at the | hockey match at the Timmins Rink on Saturday ‘between the Timmins Tuxis and the Cochrane Tigers. The Tigers were the only team to defeat the Tuxis boys last season, but Satâ€" urday, though they put up a good game they lost out, chiefly because they were not finished around the net. The Tigers make a nice little team, but were scearcely in the Tuxis class on the play Naturday though the play was much closer than the seore sugâ€" gested. Though the Tuxis boys put up a nice game they also have some criticism coming from the fact that they did not play combination. Had the Cochrane team been a little stronger the Tuxis would likely have lost out on ‘the individual stuff. Howâ€" ever, it was a good game, and if the Tuxis lads will get down to playing combmation, it will be easy to see where the future hockey of the town may be located. The crowd enjoyed the game throughout. The St. Matthew"s Social Club held its regular fortnightly social on ‘ITuesâ€" day evening when over 45 memhers attended. ~It was without a douwht the best social the Club has had. Both the entertainment and refreshments were second to none and a hearty vote of thanks was extended to both comâ€" mittees for the suecess of the evening. The refreshment committee n cluded Mrs. Forrester, Miss B. Paice, Miss S. Moses, Miss M. Craig and Mr. A. Vine, and the entertainment commitâ€" tee comprised Mr. Forresier, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Hudson, Mrs Groves and Mrs, Hawse. HAPPY SOCIAL EVENING AT THE ST. MATTHEW‘S CLUB and the spills in this race were many, as were the laughs. A laughing feaâ€" ture of ‘the eveninge was the paper dressing contest, especially when the male members were garbed in cosâ€" tumes fixed on by the ladies, and passâ€" ed before the judges. The Valentine hunt went over big and was a special favourite. The prize winners were as follows:â€"kiddie kar race, Miss B. Paice and Mr. J. Higginson; dressing contest, Mr. W. Green; and Miss 1. Harrison and Mr. A. Vine in the Valentineâ€" hunt. Mrs. Fairbrother and Miss Moses kindly played for the dancing. A very enjoyable lunch was served and the table was nicely decorated. Mr. J. Higginson tenderâ€" ed his resignation as secretary, as he is leaving town, and â€"Mr. C. H. Jones was elected as secretary, by acelamaâ€" Mr. Forrester was in charge and in his usual pleasant way made everyone feel at home and take part in everyâ€" thing. The main numbers on the proâ€" cramme included the kiddio kar race, The return matech will be played at Cochrane in the near future. The following are the teams :â€" Tuxisâ€"goal, Craig; defence Wadsâ€" worth and Rupert; centre Gillianarâ€" do; wings, Hiudson and Lortie; subs., Ellies, Donaldson and Laflamme.
