The Christmas trese and school room were beautifully deâ€" corated for the occeasion with real Yuletide effect. _ The Paymaster Mine had rurm#4 power line over to the school to enable them to have electriâ€" ‘al lighting. Employees from the three mines had kindly given Santa Claus help to enable him to choose suitable presents for all the boys and girls of the school. Mr. H. E. Nominations for councillors were held from 12 noon to 1 p.m., with a goodly representation of ratepayers present. The following were nominâ€" ated as councillors :â€" Wilbert C. Nominations for Mayor were held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, with the town clerk, Mr. H. E. Montgomery, presiding. There were thirty or forty ratepayers visiting the hall during the period, and much mterest was shown. The following were the nominations for Mavor :â€" Andrew Patrick Brennan, dentist, proposed by W. C. Brewer and Edâ€" ward Wadsworth. Elsewhere in this issue will be found ia list of those qualifying as candidates for the various municipal offices in the present election. The following list shows all nominated for the places. Several of those nominâ€" ated were nominated more than once, but only the one nomination is given. Twentyâ€"Two Nominated for Council, and Four for Mayor Seven Nominated for Public School Trustees. Large List of Nominations at Timmins on Monday of This Week. Many Good Men Named for Various Places in Municiâ€" pal Office. There was a special meeting of the town council on Thursday evening last, but contrary to the general exâ€" pectation and the odd report since, the council did not pass the necessary byâ€"law to fix the tax rate for 1926. There was a general discussion on the rate, and a suggestion was made that the rate be 50 mills for public school supporters and 64.9 mills for separâ€" ate school supporters, but no byâ€"law to this effect was submitted, so the meeting ended with the tax rate still not fixed as required by law. ~Counâ€" cillor Longmore pointed out that the rate suggested would not meet the liabilities for the year. He also pointed out that while we are sure of the hearty support of Hon.
