Leftv Trinmble was the winner in the brisk bout with Cerino, Cruthers, a Toronto boxer, won the main event, the Pommier Cup, emâ€" blematic of the championship of North Temiskaming. â€" This feature was a bhonnie battle, Dutch Johnston, of ~the Hollinger Recreation Club, putting up a great old battle. Johnâ€" ston foreed the pace from the first and showed noteworthy cleverness and snap, but found the pace a little too rapid, Cruthers meeting him at every point and being apparently unâ€" tiring. The interest has also spread far beyond Timmins, all the dailies carrying more or less lengthy articles in reference to ‘the great whiskerâ€"growing comâ€" petition. Une Toronto newspaper has written here asking if it eould accept an entry there. Lap has reâ€" plied, however, that all entries must be made at The Advance office, as originally ‘announced. There will be no changes in the regulations of the contest, but the prize list has already and may be increased still more. Lap‘s idea is to make it a whirlwind of whiskers. At the meeting at the Falls last week Mr. Melunis was presented with a very handsome set of golf clubs. ‘The evening was a very pleasant one, marred only by the thought of the early departure from the North of the special guest of the evening, Mr. R.
