This map shows in colours the various geological formations of the Abitibiâ€" Temiscamingue region. It indicates the existence of an area of some 110 miles by 150 miles, in which predoâ€" minate rocks similar to those in which are found the deposits of Rouyn. The Porcupine Hockey Club Dance atâ€"the New School Hall on Thursday, Sept. 16th was a decided success. A large number from town, Dome and vicinity took advantage of this openâ€" ing dance of the season and consequâ€" ently the coffers of the Hockey Club benefited by quite a nice sum as a result. Ted Emery‘s ten piece orâ€" chestra supplied the music which was very much appreciated. Mr. Carl Pelangio, of hockey fame, is in camp again from North Bay. As the regular meeting of the Home and School Association here should have taken place on Sept. 1l5th, which was Fair Day at Golden City, also Tag Day, it was found necessary to dispense with it and the regular annual election of officers will take place later; The new school, being built for the Ankerite, March and Paymaster Mines, is nearing completion and is to be ready for occupation on Oct. 1st. Miss Jean Ferguson, of Cornwall, has been engaged as the teacher. This is a fine oneâ€"roomed school built strictly according to CGovernment reâ€" gulations as regards lighting, heating, ventilation, ete. _ It is comfortably heated with a coal furnace, has elecâ€" tric lighting and hardwood floors, alâ€" so the new adjustable seats and desks. _ It is also large enough to give the full amount in cubic feet of air required by each child and will be a great boon to children who have been going from these properties all the way to the Dome School. A more picturesque location could not have been chosen than the site of this new school, just at the turn of the road at the foot of the Ankerite Hill. Messrs Clement (Paymiaster), Doelle (Ankerite) and MeEwen (March Gold) comprise the present School Board and to them is due much of the credit for the cosy, healthy acaâ€" demy this new school promises to be. The Harvest Home Services will be held in the Unitel Church on Sunâ€" day, â€" October 3rd. The annual Thanksgiving dinner and concert will be held the following week. On Tuesday, Sept. 21st, Miss Ivy Parsons, of the Dome Mines, was united in marriage to Mr. Alfred Young of Timmins. _ The ceremony was performed in Timming by the Rev, Archdeacon Woodall. The hapâ€" py couple will take up residence in South Poreupine and we extend to them our best wishes. This week Mr. C. M. Sceott purchasâ€" ed the home on Connaught Hill ownâ€" ed by Mr. E.S. Last year the Dome team were first; O ‘Brien Mines, Coâ€" balt, second ; and the Hollinger Team, third; this year the Dome were again able to beat out the O ‘Brien Team by a narrow margin, and the Lake Shore Mines, Kirkland Lake, were third ; the respective markings being as folâ€" lows:â€"Dome Mines, 210; O‘Brien, 192%; Lake Shore 164. The tests were more difficult than last year and the high average speaks well for all three teams. The Dome Mines team also entered for Dominion wide honâ€" ours this year, and are to be canâ€" gratulated on having, secured second place in stretcher drill, sixth place in team test and seventh place in the J. Fell, of the Dome had a wonderful display of cut flowers. As there was no place on the prize list for such beauties as G@ladioli, Dahlia, Gaillarâ€" dia, ete. Mr. Fell very courteously arranged his flowers for display only; not for competition. A word to the wise is sufficient; we fell, when we mention the fact that five different prizes given for Asters with nothing whatever for individual showings of Gladioli, Dahlias, Hollyhocks, Gaillarâ€" dia, Monkshood and many others that are favourites at this time of year, is searcely the division of honours that appeals to the general public. . The showing of stock was strong, with South Porcupine animals coming in for their share. Mr. Helmer‘s Jerâ€" sey Cattle and the Holsteins owned by J. Bespalko, also those of Mrs. F. Hamilton, came in for a goodly numâ€" ber of tickets. Some were pureâ€"breds of a very fine type. Bodlavik‘s team, as usual, walked easily away with the prize in the Drawing conâ€" test. A miniature engine constructâ€" ed by Mr. Spadafore of this place came in for some very complimentary remarks. Our friends in Golden City showed us every courtesy as usual; the weatherâ€"man smiled his best, and altogether the day was a very satisâ€" factory one to those who attended from this side of the Lake. In the Sty John‘s Ambulance Comâ€" petition for the George Wright Shield emblematic of the championship of Ontario Mines, the Dome Mines‘ team, consisting of H,. H. Costain, Robert MeWilliaims, E. J. The Imperial Bank is again unâ€" dergoing extensive renovations being freshly painted, new doors being put on, etc. The steel framework of the New Skating Rink is now being built. Many, in fact, most people from here attended the Fair at Golden City on Sept. 15th. Some were also sueâ€" cessful exhibitors, Mrs. Art. Ewing, Bruce avenue won first and also the special for the best Lemon Pie, beâ€" sides winning several other prizes on relishes, pickles, biscuits, ete. _ We live near enough to her to have tasted such delicacies as she can make on various occasions and we quite agree with the opinion of the judges. Mr. vâ€" a Last Sunday a group of fair tagâ€" gers accompanied by their chaperones and the Porcupine Goldfields Band visited the Dome, Dome Extension, West Dome Lake Consolidated: and the Paymaster Mines. While the Band discoursed some of its finest music the girls tagged for the beneâ€" fit of the new hospital, and a nice sum was realized to be added to the results of Golden City Tag Day. Next Sunday, Sept. 26th, after church the Band are giving a concert in the Majestic Theatre, the proceeds to be‘donated toward the hospital. Don‘t miss this treat, and help along a good cause. his father at Galt. Mrs. Jas. Hogg will remain at her girlhood home for some time longer. Mrs. R. Wallace and Bobby, Jr are home after a visit in Cobalt, FOSTER CUP ADDE 10 â€" Timmins Football Club won the Foster Cup on Saturday last by deâ€" feating the Dome, with the score of 2 to 0. N. Dougall scored the first goal from a beautiful shot from the wing, and Fell, of the Dome, sent the second goal in from a scrimmage in front of the his own goal. The match was at the Dome grounds and was an interesting and pleasing one. By the winning of the Foster Cup the Timmins F. C. now have all the trophies for the season except the C. V. Gallagher Cup, donated for the Ontario Cup series. As would be exâ€" pected under the efficient management and officers for the year, the Timmins Football Club has had a very successâ€" ful season, and have a number of trophies to show the success attained. The season has been a good one in town for football and while the boys would have liked to gone further in the Cup series, the luck was against them in that, but there are other seasons coming, and it is hoped yet to add the Ontario Cup to the others of the T. F. C. Timmins Football Team IWin from Dome on Saturday, with the Score 2 to 0.\ Tea and Sale of Home Cooking, in aid of the St. Matthew‘s Sr. W. A., will be held at the home of Mrs. W. H. There is still the sacred concert on Sunday evening at the Majestic by (Goldfields Band so we hope to to the $400.00 mark for this much needâ€" ed cause,â€"i.e. adding sufficient eguip- ment to our new hosnital. I The Tag day held at Golden City and vicinity on Fair Day was a deâ€" cided success and netted a nice sum for the Women‘s Auxiliary of the new hospital. Splendid organization was one of the pleasing features of the day; no girl tagging for a longer period than two hours; being relieved by others at that time with no hiteh whatever in the workingâ€"out of arâ€" rangements. Those who tagged in Schumacher were under the abl suâ€" pervision of Mrs, Williams, while in town, and at the Fair, Mrs. T. J. Wright assisted by other officers took charge. _ Two ladies were up early enough to tage the passengers of the early morning train and all trains were tagged throughout the day. The largest individual tagâ€"box was that of Mrs. Jaek Ostrom, containing the sum of $41.55. In the evening the girls were brought in cars to the 1.0.0.F. hall, where an appetizing supper was spread for them at seven o‘clock, and a merry time was enjoyed for a couple of hours.. During the supper various names for the new hospital were sugâ€" gested the following being made:â€" Tisdale General Hospital, Temiskamâ€" ing â€"General â€" Hospital; *‘Princess Elizabeth Hospital (in honour of the tiny daughter of the Duke and Duchâ€" ess of York). The Pioneer General Hospital. Suggestions from any citiâ€" zen are welcomed and should be sent to the secretary, Mrs. Max Smith, Mr. 8. Sky has promised to give a donation duplicating the amount of the highest box, ie. Several other private donations have been sent in since Tag Day and the total sum now realized amounts to $365.75.
