WOMAN LAKE SEGTION 15 PRAGTIGALLY ALL STAKED New Blus Print Map of New Gold Camp has been issued by the Dept. of Mines. Woman Lake, like so many others of the Northern waterways, is long and very narrow, being «little more that a wideâ€"river, containing numerous islands. The stakings commence just north of Bear Lake, and. continue for a considerable distance inland on both sides of â€"Woman Lake for a distance of some 18 miles. A correspondent writing from Ned Lake district says that a new blue print map of the Woman Lake area has been issued by the draughting deâ€" partment of the Department of Mines at North Bay. It shows all the reâ€" corded stakings in this field except some 15 claims on which applications were received since the data was comâ€" piled. On the west of the lake, the stakâ€" ings run inland abour four miles, as far as Surprise and Quartz Lakes. It was around these two latter bodies of water that the bulk of the Woman To the east of Woman Lake all the ground is staked solid over as far as Clearwater Lake, a distance of about two miles on the average, except at the north end, where the granite contact comes in.. There are very few ""*K" claims on this side, plaotxcallv everyâ€" thing having been taken up in the past two months, that is since the disâ€" coveries were made on the Rowe, Jackson, Manion, Bell and Tripp proâ€" perties close to the Woman Lakeâ€" Clearwater Lake portage. Prior to the discovery of gold at Narrow Lake, there was a good deal of prospecting going on in this vicinâ€" ity, but the centre of interest shifted, and operations there are now pretty well limited to assessment work, which is proceeding satisfactorily and bringing favourable results, promising, surface indications having been loâ€" cated on a number of properties. There are ninetyâ€"seven _ claims shown on the map east of Clearwater Lake. These are located at varying intervals from Fly Lake on the south to Washagomis Lake on the north, a total distance of nine miles with conâ€" siderable open territory in between: All of these were recorded in the past two months. Lake, which is in reality an extension of the field. If placed in a solid block these would cover an area of 34 square miles, which indicates the exâ€" tent to which staking has proceeded in this part of the Red Lake Division. The profits for the year were $102,0860 more than for the preâ€" vious year, and the ore reserves are‘ also materially increased. ! It may be noted that at the annual meeting it is proposed to submit byâ€" laws changing the company‘s fiscal year from June 30th to March 31st, and the date of the annual meeting from the last Thursday in September to the last Wednesday in June. Bickell, the president of the Melntyre Porcupine Mines, Ltd., points out that the company acquired through purâ€" chase the â€" outstanding _ interest amounting to 25 per cent. in the Platt Veteran (Gold Mines, whose property adjoins the MelIntyre on the: southâ€" east, and these claims, comprising 160 acres, have been transferred to the company and the Platt Veteran charâ€" ter surrendered. Further, he says, that the Melntyre last Summer acquired by staking a 90 per cent. interest in a group of nine claims situated in the Red Lake district. _ After examinaâ€" tion, the company‘s engineers recomâ€" mended a programme of exploration but so far the results of this prelimâ€" inary work has failed to confirm his early expectations. eariy expectations. The new main shaft early this month had reached a depth of 3,100 feet, the plan being to continue to 4,000 feet, which level should be reached during March of next year. The plant and equipment for this shaft is scheduled for delivery on the property in ample time to permit of its erection and inâ€" stallation before sinking is completed. Foundations are now being placed for the hoisting machinery and head frame, and the shaft in its entirety will be placed in operation in June of next year. Stations have been cut 250 feet apart from 1,250 to 1,750 and 125 feet apart from 1,750 to 2,â€" 875.._ Connections have been made with the original shaft workings on the 1,875 and the 2,375 foot lev elsx The general manager, Mr. R. J. Ennis, says that the amount of ore treated was 460,009 tons as compared with 400,259 in the previous year, the value per ton being $8.72 as against $9.43. The gross value was $4,020,326.00 as against $3.774,068.00 and the bullion recovered was valued at $3.804,774.90 as against $3,546,â€" 637.52. The bullion contained 182,â€" 631 fine ounces of gold and 44,833 fine ounces of silver, which figures compare with 170,239 fine ounces of zold and 42,496 fine ounces of silver in the previous report.
