Craig‘on Friâ€" day, June 25th, when a large number of Schumacher friends arranged a shower in honour of the brideâ€"toâ€"be, Mrs. Humphrey, a former esteemed resident of this town. The time was spent in dancing and singing. At 10.30, one of the gentlemen played ‘*Hereâ€"Comes the Bride,‘‘ and the following ladies Mrs. D. Craig, Mrs. Newcombe, Mrs. Williams, Mrs Jones, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Elms, Mrs., Sims, Mrs. Glazier, Mrs. Stanley and Mrs. Sscott, marched in with a beautifully decorated basket containing many lovely and useful gifts of Madeira work. _ Mrs. Glazier then expressed congratulations and good wishes on behalf of the company after which a dainty luncheon was served. Mr. Gordon Cornell, of the Bank of Montreal, Brantford, and son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cornell, is spending his holidays at his home here. The young man had rather an unpleasant experience during the past week while canoeing on Pearl Lake. Without oné bit of warning the frail craft suddenâ€" ly precipitated its occupant into the refreshing waters of the beauty pond. Mr. Cornell was fortunate in being more expert in the water than in the canoe and struck out boldly for the, shore and arrived safely, firmly reâ€" solved to try again at an early date. _ Mr. J. A.
