South Poreupine was represented at the organization meeting, but withâ€" drew their team from the Twilight League as they wished to devote their efforts to their team in the N.0.B.A. A new team representing Timmins, it is understood, will take their place in the Twilight League. a The organization meeting was held in the Melntyre Hall, Schumacher on Thursday last, June 17th. Represen â€" tatives were present from baseball clubs at South Poreupine, MeIntyre, Hollinger Recreation Club and Timâ€" mins. Viceâ€"Presidentsâ€"Messrs C. Kahler and H. Plaunt. Secretaryâ€"Mr. J. Blackshaw The following schedule has been submitted to the T. A.A.A. So far as known there are no conflicting dates on it, and, unless otherwise specified, it will be the schedule for the season. First Series SOFTBALL POSTPONED UNTIL THIS EVENING. On account of the bad weather on Monday evening the softball game scheduled to be played on the eyanide between the Y.P.L. and the K. of C. was postponed until this (Thursday) evening. The schedule game on Friday last was a disappointment, the Y.P.L. having so much superiority over the opposing team, the Ramblers,;, that the latter had no more chance than a ‘snowball in a furnace room. â€" The Y,. P. L. had it all their own way, the final score being 29 to 0. It is the intention to greatly strengthen the Ramblers team before the next game and next time they may be depended upon to show a much better game than on Friday. Mrs. A. 8. Stevens returned home last week to Cobalt, after a visit to relatives in T1mm1ns and Schumacher. Mines League Organized on Thursday Evening Last. Schedule Drawn up for Games for the Season. To accommodate pupils liviag in the Bartleman Townsite, a petition was presented to Timmins Council asking for the formation of a union school section. Under the union school seeâ€" tion plan proposed the pupi!s in quesâ€" tion could attend Timmins public school. In return, the properties in Bartleman Townsite owned by public school supporters would pay school taxes to Timmins. _ The petitioners last week received a letter from the Town Clerk reading as follows:â€"**I am instructed by the Mayor to notify you that the Counc#l are not favourâ€" able to the formation of a Union Sschool Section as described in your petition of Feb. 8th.‘‘ If the union school section plan can not be proâ€" ceeded with, despite the disfavour of the Council, and if the Council eonâ€" tinues its present attitude, then the only feasible plan apparently will be erection by Tisdale of a school on or near the Townsite. This will e a more or less expensive matter for Tisâ€" dale, and Timmins will loss the school taxes involved. â€" But, unless the buildâ€" ing of homes on the townsite is stopâ€" ped, something should be done at as early a date as possible. For this reason several signed the petition who had no other thought ‘or connection with the matter than the assurance of educational facilities for the families on the new townsite.
