Fillier is leaving this week for Rouyn, and there was a farewell party held in his honour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Smith, 23 Wilâ€" son avenue, last weekâ€"end. All preâ€" sent found the evening a very enjoyâ€" able one, the only drawback being the expected departure from town of the guest of the evening. There were songs, recitations, dancing and a general good social time. Mr. (Geo. Burnett danced the Sailor‘s Hornpips and Mr. Denny Reid favoured with a fine exhibition of stepâ€"dancing. Many and sincere were the good wishes exâ€" tended to Mr. Fillier for happiness and prosperity in his new location. On Tuesday evening a farewell surâ€" prise party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ryan, 53 Kirhy avenue, a number of friends gatherâ€" ing there to express their high apâ€" preciation for Mr. and Mrs. Ryan and the general regret at their removal from Timmins. Mr. and Mrs. Ryan have been residents of the town for some years past.. Mr. Ryan is wellâ€" known and specially popular here, having been an employee of the T. N.O0. Railway before and after his service overseas. Mr. and Mrs, Ryan are leaving to take up residence in Englehart and they will be followed by the sincerest good wishes of hosts of friends in Timmins and district. On Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ryan were presentéd with a token of esteem and an address expressive of the regret felt at their departure and appreciation for their many fine qualities. No. 2 Tisdale held on Tuesday evening for the purpose of discussing the need of more school accommodaâ€" tion, it was decided to take the necesâ€" sary steps for the erection of a fourâ€" roomed modern, brick fireâ€"proof strucâ€" ture, the sanme to be ready for ocâ€" cupation at the reâ€"opening of school for the autumn term. A farewell social was held in the basement of the United Church on Tuesday evening in honour of Rev. C. A. Sales, Mrs. Sales and family, prior to their departure early in June for their new home in Mattawa. We congratulate our local poultry fanciers, Messrs K. 8. Skelly and Mr. Tompkinson on their election to exeâ€" cutive positions in the Timmins Poulâ€" try and Pet Stock Association, the former as President and the latter as 2 member of the Board of Directors. Mr and Mrs. Hayward will not reâ€" turn until the Autumn The Temagami Summer School was the subject of an interesting sereen lecture given by Miss Quick and Mr. Clare Sievert in the basement of the United ‘Church on Wednesday evenâ€" ing. The attendance was not very large but all were delighted with the picturesque sviews of the: natural scenery, Indian life, modern hotels, boating and fishing, sports and genâ€" eral activities of camp life. The school is conductéd by ministers, Sunday School teachers and others of the North Land who are interested in Bible Atudy and Sabbath . school work, and this year jwill be held from July 19th to 26th inclusive. Competent _ instructors _ will have charge of the classes during the comâ€" ing term. At the close of the lecture it was the general opinion that a holiday could be very profitably spent in the healthful atmagphere of this northern paradise. After spending a portion of the year in the quiet old historie city on Lake Ontario, Mr. Malkin is someâ€" what amazed at the life and activiâ€" ties of this progressive mining centre. The Rugby Football Club held a very successful dance in the Hollinger Recreation hall on Thursday last, there being a nice crowd present and all }mvmg a very enjoyable evening.
