Scharet, in whichk ‘both these youngsters showed partfeular skill im the manly art of self defence. The second bout was the star‘sfiow of boximge exhibit being _ a match between Doug. Johnson, of the Holly ltee. and John Carson of the Poreuâ€" pine Distriect Athletie Club. The match caused keen discussion on the merits of both boxers, who are so evenâ€" ly matched that it is difficult to tell who is the better boxer, and this bout was one of, if not the finest yet seen in Timmins,. Bob Walsh and Dave Holland were ithe next on the carpet and gave the audience an: exâ€" citing time with a very clever match of four 3â€"minute rounds. Last but not least, an exhibition match between Anthur Lennard, Mr. Jardine‘s assisâ€" tant and boxing trainer, who, was formerly champion welterâ€"weight of the North of England, boxing: with Mr. LaPorte also of the Holly: Ree, and these two fine exponents of the game gave a magnificent exhibition of how it should be done. The boxing over, the company were entertained by a trio ofâ€" firstâ€"class musicians, until refreshments â€" were served, at which a fine birthday cake of three tiers was cut and distributed by Ross to his guests.
