T TIMMINS BRANCH, U i# 0 O# # # # # Acquisition by the Dome of another property in the Poreupine area brings the territory now held by the Dome Mines Limited, outside of their preâ€" sent workings, to something in excess of 1,000 acres. Indeed, one of the enâ€" couraging features for the town of South Poreupine and the east porâ€" tion of Tisdale has been the steady accumulation in the last year or two by Dome of properties to the north and east of its present operations. It is known that Dome was the sucâ€" cessful bidder of Poreupine Lake which went under the hammer about two years ago. The lake bed itself covers between 500 and 600 acres, and from indications, which are reâ€" ported to have been found during the operations of the Hunter Mine in the early days of Whitney Townâ€" ship, it is believed to be extremely valuable mining land. They parted in 1912 and Smith afterwards lived with Mildred Rosenâ€" field. It is claimed by plaintiff that up to the time of his death, or shortâ€" ly before it, Smith owned a half milâ€" lion shares of Mutual shaâ€" res, and that he put all these in the name of Mildred Smith. He also owned 250,000 shares in the Mikado Mines,. it is said. It is set out in the statement of claim that a year before he died Smith became a victim of pernicious anaemia, and that during his illness, and after his death, Milâ€" dred Rosenfield sold large quantities of the Mutual shares. Nince Smith died, it is alleged, Mildred Rosenâ€" field has procured 8. Rosenfield, whom ske claims as her brother, to take Smith‘s place as manager of the company."‘ The Northern News last week had the following item of interest to many in this district :â€" Anpther Evidence of the KKK., or the Work of a Practical Joker CLAIMED THAT WOMAN sSOLD SHARES NOT HERS. THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIO. FIERVY GROSG BUAAtD ON GATURDAY NIGHT HERE *A legal battle involving, among other things, the ownerslnp of a large number of shares in the Poreupine Mutual Gold Mines and the Mikado Mines, has developed in Toronto over the estate of the late Arthur C. Smith, who died in the city last May, and who was manager of the Mutual Comâ€" pany. A matrimonial tangle also has to be straightened out, as it is alleged Smith hdd separated from his wife and was living with another woman. Now the Toronto General Trust Co., is suing the latter woman and also the mining company, and Mildred Rosenfield will have to account for many shares she is said to have sold, accoryling to a decision of Mr. Justice Lennox, ~who referred the matter to the Master in Chambers. It is claimed that Mildred Rosenfield had wrongâ€" fully assumed the name of \Illdred Smith, and plaintiffis also allege that Arthur Smith used the name Milâ€" dred Smith only as a nom de plume, and that he never had any intention of giving his propemty to the Rosenâ€" field woman. According to the stateâ€" ment of claim, Smith married Helen Rooks Vosberg in Buffalo 27 years eral was that so long as the KKK. went along without interference with the rights of others, it would be left alone the same as any other legitiâ€" mate association, but if it proved to be what its detractors claimed,â€" lawless or offensive to others,â€"it would be sternly suppressed. the receâ€" rector‘s for her ‘ in 0 *n *n " *s *e *a o *o o o n nb 96 e 6 e e e 0 s e s e e e e e e e e o 0 e s s s a o i i i o n n t t e e e i e o e e . . The chief loss was in fountain pens and Eversharp penceils taken, about $100 worth of goods in these lines being carried away. Some liquor was also missing when the burglary was disâ€" covered. Entry was made to the store through the fanlight over the window at the side of the building. As the opening is not very large, it would appear to be the work of a boy or boys, though it also seems evident that some adults must have assisted to help the smaller person through the fanlight window. This is the seeâ€" ond time this method has been used recently to enter the store, and the third that the store has been burglarâ€" ized in the past few weeks.
