THIS is the remarkable total earnings record of the businesses now joined together in the National Grocers Comâ€" w# pany, Limited, whose 8% Prefefred Stock we offer and recommend as a splendid investment. One of the firms, now in the consolidation, is actually located right in this city, and is well known to you; therefore, its standing in your community will give you an idea of the sound, conservative character of the business and of the integrity of the men who are directing it. By this consolidation, the National Grocers Company, Limited, becomes the largest firm of Wholesale Grocers in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. Its turnover is almost 60% of the entire Wholesale Grocery trade in Ontario. f The businesses now combined have been in continuous and successful operaâ€" tion for an average period of fifty years. There are net tangible assets of $373 behind every share of the Preferred Stock. Now, remembering this, and remembering that the actual dividend earnings have been 3.90% times the 8% Preferred Stock dividerd requireâ€" ments, % ® *4 *# * #4 #.% #4 *%.% #4 *4 *.: *4 *.% ## * . % +4 *# + *+ * # #4 # + #4 # + #4 + 4 #* + ns #4 # #4 *# #4 * 44 *# * . #4 * /\ #4 # C Â¥ McLEOD, YOUNG, WEIR CO., LIMITED 23 Jordan Street, Toronto Please enter my order for..........__.____._.. shares of NATIONAL GROCERS LIMITED, 8% Cumulative Redeemable Sinking Fund First Preferred Stock accrued dividend, delivery to be Mad@ se es I will accept delivery as follows:â€" (Date) exEcx â€" O Pn Aâ€"Forward statement and I will send cheque in payment HERE C Plan Bâ€"Ship stock CertifiCat@ t0O t Name... Mr. Harry Child, of Matheson, was a visitor to Timmins on Saturday last and claims the honour of being the first motorist to come into Timmins by way of the new Shillington Road. He made the trip in @a Jewett car and said the trip was a pleasant one, the road being in pretty good shape. HAILEYBURY TALKING ABOUT TOURIST CAMPS At a recent meeting of the Haileyâ€" bury Board of Trade there was conâ€" sideration of the question of a site for a tourists‘ camp at Haileybury, and a committee of four was appoinâ€" ted to take the matter up with the Town Council at an early date. The proposal for a tourists‘ camp was brought forward by Mr. N. J. Meâ€" Aulay. Mr. MeAulay said that other towns were providing sites in anticiâ€" pation of considerable motor traffic when the trunk road is completed in another year or two. He stated that Temagami, Latchford, New Liskeard and Englehart had all provided sites and he thought â€" Haileybury should fall in line. <~The proposal met with the approval of all present. COnIMUNITY HALL AND ARFNA FOR HAILEYBURY It may be an inopportune time to suggest a new town hall or a comâ€" munity hall or anything like that for Timmins. In the past projects along this line have been made as long as ten years ago. Once, the matter proâ€" gressed to the stage of a public meetâ€" ing of representatives of practically every organization and interest â€" in town. This meeting appointed a committee to report further at anâ€" other meeting. The committee never reported. Since then all three memâ€" bers of the committee have left the town â€" altogether. Various _ reasons have caused the question to be dropâ€" ped, though the need is apparent enough. At the present time with practically no one recovered, either financially or tempermentally, from the paying of the first installment of the year‘s municipal taxes, it would he something similar to suicide to advocate too loudly for a community hall or town hall or anything else that would cost money. However, information from Haleyâ€" bury brings the idea to} notice. Haileybury believes it has every reaâ€" son to expect that a new community hall and arena will be erected at Haileybury in the near future. It is the intention to finance the project with the proceeds of the insurance on the armories. _ Anâ€" Orderâ€"inâ€"Council has been passed providing for the turning over of the amount of $33,â€" (500, voted for the purpose at the last session of Parliament, to the town of Haileybury for the construction of the building, and only some minor arrangements have now to be made before the project can be gotten unâ€" der way. der way. According to The Haileyburion the building will consist of a comâ€" munity hall, \\1th one or two offices in connection, and a large arena which will be available for an armory should occeasion arise. The arena, as should oc( shown on feet with of light. The â€" Haileyburian further comâ€" ments that this ‘‘will be almost all that is now required to make the town of Haileybury at least as great as it was before the last big fire and the citizens will weleome the establishâ€" ment of a tommunity building which will be available for large gatherings when oceasion arises."‘ , and large arenda wlicii available for an armory ‘asion arise. The arena, as the plans, will be 70x170 an arched roof and plenty PRESENTATION ON FRIDAY _ TO MR. AND MRS. H. W. HOOKER Mr. and Mrs. H. W, Hooker who have recently taken up residence in the town were the hosts at a surprise party last Friday evening, when _ a number of their friends gathered at their home and gave themâ€" a real North Land weleome to the Town of Timmins. Later in the evening a delightful luncheon was served, at the home of Mrs, J. A. Howse, where Mr. and Mrs. Hooker were presented with a â€"handsome floor lamp. Mr. N. SPECIAL SERVICES AT TIMMINS BAPTIST CHURCH The formal opening services of the Timmins Baptist Church, after the alâ€" terations and extensions made this summer, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4th. Rev. Mr. Brown, of the Annette Baptist Chureh, Toronto, will be the preacher for the occasion and there will be special services on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be the services at the usual hours on Sunday and on the week days the services will be held both afternoon and evening each day. The alterations and extensions to the Baptist Church are now practiâ€" cally completed. It is interesting to note that the work has been carmed out without any interference with the regular services. â€" Accordingly, while thespecial services, Oct. 4th, to 7th, may be referged to as **Opening Serâ€" vices,"‘ the fact is that all the work this summer at the Baptist Church has been carried through without the closâ€" of the church for a singleservice.
