The annual report of the Melntyre Poreupine Mines, Ltd., for the year ending, June 30th, 1925, shows the year as having been the best in the history of the mine. _ The net earnâ€" ings were $1,618,836.00, as compared with $1,488,468 during the previous year. â€" Ore reserves are now estimated at $12,428,905, being an increase in the twelve months of $1,115,087, which latter amount added to the vear‘s production of $3,546,637, ib dicates a total of $4,661,724 as the value of the ore developed during the vear. < $ All past records of the mine were exceeded by the treatment during the year of 400,259 tons, having a gross value of $3,774,068, or an average of $9.43 «per ton. The value of bullion recovered was $3,546,637. The year‘s production brings the total production in the history of the mine to $22,060,â€" 226.00. 1 ~â€"In his report to the shareholders, Mr. R. J. Ennis, General Manager, says that 438,524 tons of ore were broken during the year. The stopes produced 395,512 tons, and 43,012 tons came from development work. After hoisting 399,683 tons of, ore from the mine the balance of 38,841 tons was added to the broken ore reâ€" serves, which now amount to 221,025 tons, as against 182,184 tons at the end of the previous‘ operating period. No ore was hoisted from a greater depth than 2,375 feet. _ From this level there was 42,667 tons of $8.00 ore hoisted. Ore hoisted fromâ€" the 2,250â€"fpot level amounted to 25,233 tons,. whiclk was ~also â€"of the value of" $8.00. The highest assgays of ore hoisted were $16.50 for 41417 tons from the 1,250â€"foot level, and $14.90 for the 17,483 tons hoisted from the 1,750â€"foot level. Mr. J. P. Bickell, in his report to the shareholders, state: "‘In view of the fact that our present working shafts are taxed to the limit of their capacity in handling ore while proâ€" duction is maintained on the present scale, we are necessarily restricted in our development and exploration proâ€" eram. â€" This condition will be relieved when the No. 11 shaft goes into operâ€" ation. This shaft is now down 1,250 feet, and it is planned to establish a station and loading facilities at 3,000 feet, which depth, it is anticipated, will be attained and the shaft equipâ€" ped to operate by the fall of next vear."‘‘ The discovery of No. 12 â€"vein on the 1,875â€"footâ€"level is considered one of the important features of the year‘s work, indieating ore to this depth in In every line the report must be most gratifying to the shareholders. Most Satisfactory Year in the History of the Mcintyre The development program during the year was pursued on an extensive scale, and with most satisfactory reâ€" sults.. The main shaft was sunk from 2,531 feet to 3,019, feet, and: stations were cut at 2,500, 2,625, 2,750, 2,875, and 3,000 feet. It is quite significant that such a highly producing vein as No. 7, has been picked up as low as the 2,625â€"foot level, showing better values and greater widths than on the upper level. On the 2,375â€"foot level the vein has been opened up for a total distance of 1,800 feet. The amount of drifting done on this vein <during the year amounted to 1,252 feet, and 800 feet was in $12.00 ore over a width of eight feet. _ On the 2,625â€"foot level, No. 7 vein was intersected 300 feet from the shaft, showing a width of. 15 feet of ore asâ€" saying $24.90 per ton. «No drifting has, been done on this level, and the crosscut is advancing to intersect veins, 8, 9, and 10 to the south. Annual Report Shows Greatest Recovery of Gold Since Opening of Mine. Ore Reserves Materially Increased. Programme of Expansion Going Along Steadily. Under the new Dominion Election Act now in force, Returning Officers are appointed to hold office until they finally resign or are dismissed. It used to be that Returning Officers were appointed for a particular elecâ€" tion, and their appointment was usu® ally announced after the date of the election had been given out. _ As soon as the election was over, the Returning Officers automatically were finished. The new Act for Dominion elections alters this and now the Reâ€" turning Officers will hold, office until they either resign or are dismissed. 1924 1925 Bullion recovery $3,291,178 $3,546,637 Operating costs (¢en. expenses .. The vein was intersected at a point 1,280 feet from the Melntyre lot, and has been opened up for a dmtacce of 410 feet, averaging $10.50 over six feet. Im- portant development work was also done during the year on veins 3, 5, 8, 9. and 10. ~ Mr. Ennis reports that improveâ€" ments in the tube milling practice has increased the capacity of the mill from 360,140 tons in the preceding year to 400,259 tons, with a slight reduction in milling costs. Improveâ€" ments now under way will increase the recovery and give better general metallurgical results. _ Mining costs are shown at $3.1022 per ton, whicir compares with $3.1649 in the precedâ€" ing year. Milling costs amounted to $.9540, as against $.98553 in the preâ€" ceding year. Operating costs amountâ€" ed to $1,927,500, or $4,8156 per ton, while the unit cost for the pmcedm«r year was $4.9657 per ton. Last week announcement was made of the Returning Officers appointed for North and South Temiskaming ridings. Mr. Ben Rothschild, of Cochâ€" rane, formerly Mayor of that town, and also more recentlv postmaster there ,is the man appomted for this riding, known now as North Temisâ€" kaming. Mr. C. A. Byam, of New Liskeard, a well and favourably known business man of the Creamery Town, is the Returning Officer for South Temisâ€" kaming Special reference is made to the progress made in sinking the new central shaft (No. 11) 2,050 feet east of the main shaft, which has as its objective a depth of 4,000 feet. The first round was shot on ‘Oct. 2, 1924, and after a depth of 62 feet was reached â€" with light rigging, shaft work avas stopped and the sinking plant erected. This plant was comâ€" pleted on Jan. 31, 1925, and sinking was resumed. By the end of June the shaft had been taken to a depth of 952 feet. The expectation is that the 2,000â€"foot level will be reached by the end of the present calendar year. ~The comparative statement, showâ€" ing the principal items in the balance sheet and profit and loss account is as follows: A Benefit Football Match is anâ€" nounceed for Thursday (toâ€"morrow) evening, Sept. 3rd, when the Lanâ€" cashires (North of England) and the Cornish Oneâ€"andâ€"All (South of Engâ€" land) will battle for supremacy, on the Timmins Athletie Field. The kickâ€"off will be at 6 p.m.; and it is expected to be a lively and interestâ€" ing match. Timmins Citizen‘s Band will be in attendance for the match and furnish good music. It is said that the box was some little distance away from where Mr. Hann was standing with the single cap. The cap he was holding for some cause or another exploded and the whole box of caps also went up in the air. Hann was badly cut and torn about the head, face, arms and body, and it was feared that the amputation of one or more fingers would be necessary. It was impossible to give him proper care and attention outside of a regunâ€" lar hospital, and the airship route allowed of the injured man benefitting from the hospital treatment before it was too late. He is reported as making the best of recovery now at the Cobalt hospital. The street in front of the fire hall is blocked at present for the construcâ€" tion of the paving on that block of Fourth Avenue. â€"Arrangements, howâ€" ever, have been made to assure the best of service from the fire hall, in case there are any ealls. It would be better, of eourse, if anyone desiring to have a fire would wait a week or two until the road is completed. In the meantime, however, no necessary fire will be neglected. The motor fire truck is stationed in the rear of the hall and has a clear runway out to Cedgr Street, For calls north and east it is, if anything, better situated than usual to make a quick response to alarms. For calls south and west, Cedar Street, Fifth Avenue and Pine Street will be used to get the motor truck rapidly to any place it may be thougl¥¥ it is needed. The airship plying between Haileyâ€" bury and Rouyn proved of special serâ€" vice some days ago in conveying an injured man to the hospital for treatâ€" ment. A miner named T. Hann, working at one of the smaller mines in the Rouyn area, was rather badly injured by the explosion of some 180 detonators. _ He was given prompt medical attention, but hospital care was absolutely necessary. It would take several days of rather rough travelling to get the man out to an hospital if the ordinary land and water route were used. But with the airship route, it was only about an hour and a half from the time the patient left Rouyn until he was comâ€" fortably placed in the Mines Hospiâ€" tal at Cobalt,â€"a very material saving in time and suffering through the good work of the airship line conâ€" ducted by Capt. Broatch and Mr. D. Briden.
