Instead of the large number of cases common for. some recent weeks, there were only a few charges to be held and none of them held very special interest for any but those concerned. ‘Indeed, many who usually ivllow police court proceedings and attend the sessions, acted and spoke this week as if there were no court at all. But there were about a dozen rases at‘ that. There were three drunks, the rate rang four, one of these was a penalty, Petterson and Dedrickson one egach. The Roses worked hard but could not get going good, _ Their passes were nicely intercepted. They made some nice plays on the right and got in close but could not get the ball in. They had two corners, bhoth being cleared. Smith put up a good zame and pulled off some nice saves. Mr. Tomlinson, referee. The Hollinger had an easy night on caturady last when they played the Lancashire Roses in the P.D.E.L. winâ€" ning the match 7â€"1. The teams :â€" goal, Phizaâ€" clea and E. Jackson, backs; Jenkins, Moore and Truemouth, halfâ€"backs; K. Jackson, Righy, Gaskell, Wright and Wilkinson, forwards. Hollinger: Larmer, goal; Roberts, jr. and Hetherington, backs; Stephenâ€" son, Anderson and Short, halfâ€"backs; Dunbar, Dedrickson, Petterson, Satâ€" rang and Landers, forwards. In the first three minutes of the play the Roses‘ back miskicked and Satrang scored. The Roses came down, but could not get in for a shot. Both teams were playing nice comâ€" bination which kept the ball rolling. The Hollinger pressed and Smith made two fine saves, with Satrang‘s shots. The Lanes. came down again but Short intercepted and sent the ball to Petterson who took ‘a shot. Again Smith saved. The Lanes again came down. _ Wright got in a good centre and two of the Roses anxious to zget the ball only tapped it between them; this was a good opportunity to score. _ Just before time the Lanes. were awarded a penalty and scored off the spot kick. This fact, and the general growth of Schumacher, together with the particular increase in the number of Seots and Sceotswomen, led to plans for the organization of a Schumacher Caledonian Society.. Accordingly, on Friday evening last a meeting was called at the Melntyre Hall, the Timâ€" mins Caledonians being invited to this meeting to assist in the orgarization of the new society and to enjoy a pleasant social evening. It was suggested that while many of the Timmins Scots might wish to join the Schumacher . Society, it would ‘be best for the evening if onâ€" ly Schumacher people were to vote, and this was agreed to. By unanimâ€" ous vote it was decided to form a Schumacher Caledonian Society and the election officers was then proceeded with as follows, all being elected hy acclamation :â€" aGAUMAGHER ORGANIZES GALEOONIAN SOGCIFTY Largely Attended and Enthusiastic Mseting in McIntyre Hall Last Friday Evening.
