The photograph shows one of four trainloads of virgin white pine logs cut from the Egan limits in Preston and Clancy Townships in the Algonquin Park District. which were sent recently via the Canadian National Railways to (Eiebec for shipment to England on the order of the British Admiralty. The timber was hand hewn y the J. R. Booth Company of Ottawa and it is the ï¬nest shipment sent from Ontario in the memory of lumbermen. In some instances the timber was three feet in diameter and in no case was it less than two feet through. The shipment required 120 flat cars and aggregated 120,000 cubic feet of timber. Inset are seen from left to riï¬it the followin members of the J. R. Booth Company : C. Jackson Booth, Vice-President. . . Booth. Presi eat and . Fred Booth. Managin Director. Mr. J. R. Booth. Canada's venerab e lumber king visited the r ' way yards to see the timier. and in spite of the fact that he is in his ninety-ninth year. he exhibited a lively interest in the shipment and walked almost the full length of the train during his inspection. It was Mr. Booth's foresight which preserved for his company such remarkable stands of timber as that from which this virgin white vine was cut. Experts agree that it is the ï¬nest white pine left in,Canada. TIMMINS, ONTARIO, WEDNESDAY, MAY, 20th, 1925 About Fifty in Party from the Ambitious City to Make,- Tour of the North Next Month.
