St. Paul returned from Toronto last week and his «many friends are very glad to know that his operation has helped in restoring his old-time good health. Old Man Cupid must have had a very busy time last week and was successful in spearing two couples and tieing the knots. One of the? weddings took place on Monday and the other on Saturday. Both couples were close friends and celebrated the double wedding on Saturday and as near as we'have been able to learn, they had an extraordinary celebration. Both brides are new-comers having arrived just lately from the fertile soil of Sunny Italy. The High School Orchestra rendered a few pleasing selections. At the meeting of the United Ex- plorers’ held at Timmins on Friday last, many important questions were dealt with. About two-thirds of the pooled shares were represented at this meeting. Some deï¬nite. information should be had this week regarding the con- tracts to be let for the installation of sewer and water works for South Porcupine. Several contractors have been in town during the past week examining the plans and the entire outlay in general. The tenders closed on Monday and it is to be hoped the contract will be turned over to the responsible parties and the work started as soon as possible. The following from the last issue of The Haiileyburi'an will be of gen- ‘eral intereszt-zâ€" citizens of South Porcupine, were sorry to hear of his most sad accident, which happened in. a rapids on the Laflamme River. A telegram on Sat- urday from Amos announced that Terry Lyon has been drowned and Ralph Dipaolo nï¬rowly escaped the same fate. The two boys left here a few weeks ago on a prospecting trip into the Rouyn section and were re- turning home whemtheir canoe tipped over in the rapids. Terry Lyon be. ing unable to swim was carried away with the current, while Ralph Dipaolo managed to make the shore. .As near as can be learned the accident took place in the north-east corner of Bar- raute Township. Terry Lyon was 33 years of age on thenday before the accident and had been planning to celebrate his birthday when he got back home. The news was a severe shock to Mrs. Ralph Dipaolo, who was visiting her father when the telegram arrived. Further news is expected shortly. It is believed Ralph Dipaolo 'and a party returned to the scene, because long distance calls have been unable to reach him. The accident was indeed a sad one to be mourned by many residents who held Terry Lyon in esteem as brother, pal and friend. ' . Evidently they don’t advertise over in England like we do in Canada.
