A very large audience of lovers of band music almost filled the well-known local pleasure resort, and were highly pleased with the varied programme of band selections, instrumental solos, songs and monologues so very credit- ably rendered by the different artists. Numbers by local talent also contri- buted to the evening’s entertainment. The following programme was pre- sented. Selections by the Band, “0, Canada,” “Sons of the Brave,” and several familiar sacred selections. Instrumental solos by members of the band appeared to be very popular, particularly that on the accordion by’ 311‘. Gamble, A 111011010qu by )LII'S Jy Keene entitled “Johnnie, Me and You,” brought an encore, “Reflec- tions of a Penny.” Mrs. Keene’s selections are always appreciated. Our sweet-voiced vocalist, Miss Rosie Robinson, captivated the audience with the renderingof “Only You,” and the old favourite, “When You and I Were Young Maggie,” the lat- ter being an encore. We prophesy. a biilliant future for this young ar- tist. A piano duet by Misses Kather- ine Kanerva and Vieni Niem‘i was a very pleasing part of: the programme. Mr. Steve Lynn, our local comedian, who is always popular in the concert hall sang “Sally,” and in response to an enthusiastic call for a second appearance favoured the audience with “Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold.” Mr. Garrett, of Tim- mins, whose vocal selections are al- ways a musical treat, sang one of the closing numbers of the programme. Mrs. E. Parker presided at the piano, At the close of the concert, Mr. David‘ Kerr, the chairman on behalf of the leader and members of the Band, thanked the local artists for their as-. A very cordial invitation is extended to all vocalists to join, at the beginning of practice in the early autumn, and make the next term more successful than ever. Mr. and Mrs. A.
