THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIO Mr. Freeman intends building a bungalow on the site adjoining his present residence. The new building will be occupied immediately when finished. We are glad to report that our Reeve Chas. V. Gallagher is again on the way to reeovery. His many friends join us in extending their most sincere best wishes. Russell Buchanan was a visitor in town last week, on business. The Contractors who started work on the Government Highway between South Porcupine and Timmins are losing no time in showing signs of life. The activity that has been shown in the past week relieves all doubt about the road being finished this year. At the plant the machinery is in motion; on the highway just past the Rea Hill, many loads of rock have been dumped and the steam roller is packing it down. Opposite the Hollinger Office, the rock cuts are being blasted open and stumps are being cleared out of the way to satisfy the ery of commerce, which will soon demand a permanent highâ€" way of this sort. It is rumoured that the road will be elosed shortly to traffic and the old road used the same as was done last year. According to information received, the Orange Hall at Golden City will be opened again this season with reguâ€" lar weekly dances. Announcement of operting will be made later. Mr, Leo Mascioli of Timmins, was a visitor in town last week, Prospectors returning from a group of claims in Shaw township report having found some exceptionally fineâ€" looking ore in that section. The parâ€" ties are returning again this week with supplies to carry on further deâ€" velopment work and tracing of other large veins encountered. The many friends of Vic. McCauâ€" tion are pleased to know that he has completely recovered from his operaâ€" tion of a few weeks ago. Dr. and Mrs. Lee Honey from Timâ€" mins, were the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Mommerville on Wednesday last. Mr, Chas. Morgan left on Tuesday for a business trip to Sudbury and other points. ~Mr. and Mrs. A. Hancock, of Cochâ€" rane, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilson on Friday last. Misses Pearl and Vera Bigelow, of Smooth Rock Falls, were the guests of Mrs. Shepherd over the weekâ€"end. According to advice, a prominent engineer from Toronto has been samâ€" pling the James Claims in Deloro with a view to taking an option on them. Assays from these properties have always been such as to warrant some extra activity in the nature of mining, and apparently Toronto finanâ€" ciers are waking up to the fact that now is the time to take a good lool: at Deloro Township amrd get in on the ground floor. Several properties are now under development in the Township of Deloro and the coming Summer and Spring promises unusual |actwlt) throutslout the township. Tenders are now hbeing received on the installation of Water and Sewer in South Poreupine. The Council as well as the ratepayers are anxious that some of this work should go to contractors in the camp, thereby proâ€" viding extra work for some of the less forturlate ones, as well as keepâ€" ing the investment intact with unâ€" limited commercial value to the town. As near as can be learned at present the actual work should be started within thitry days. Suteliffe Neeâ€" lands are finishing the plans and specifications for the work.
