Of course he at once started in the opposite direction. I must admit that I had to work pretty fast to handle them all as there were eleven in the pack, but I still found time to hand each of them a kick to help them on their way. Possibly this might be ‘helpful to any who may he caught in the same predicament. Yours Truly, W. F. Richardson. Note :â€"The Advance thanks ‘Mr. Richardson for his letter which is on the same plane of truthfulness and fact that characterizes so much of the matter published in outside newspaâ€" pers regarding wolves. The Advance has been worrying for fear that some harm might come to The Toronto Star in its wolf traffic. Mr Richandâ€" son assures safety for The Star. If The Star will simply turn inside out all the wolves encountered it will render them harmless. _ The same plan might b used by the many Star people who appear to be trouâ€" bled by attacks of the wolves. Furâ€" ther, The Advance would ask The Star to watch for eleven wolves runâ€" ning @round inside out. When The Star finds these eleven wolves, they will know they are Mr. Richardson‘s particular wo‘ves, for no othen wolv»s have been treated similarly here for some time.â€"Editor The Advance. The easiest way to put Satan beâ€" hind you is not to ask her for her telephone number. As I turned to pick up a rock, the leader was springing for me. My onâ€" ‘y chanee then was to try for his jaw or tongue. As I reached the timber I looked back and here they were only a couâ€" ple of hundred yards away and apâ€" parently, ‘‘or so it seemed. to me,‘‘ breaking all records. I made for a cliff of rocks only a few yands disâ€" tant and was lucky enough to find a cleft in it which allowed my dogs and sleigh to enter and leave room for myself. I should have done so before this, but am a modest man and care not for relating anything which means myself. _ However, I had made my usual trip to Kenogamisse over the Winter Trail which is thintyâ€"six miles from post to post, and had seen nu‘mâ€" bers of wolf tracks, but as it was customary I paid no attention _ to them. _ When I started back next morning the weathen was imild and no wind. <About four miles from Kenogamisse I removed my Mackiâ€" naw and put it on the sleigh. I was now on the beginning of a big (Musâ€" keg, where my Trail was straight for almost a mile. When nearing the lower end of the muskeg, I heard a strange noise and ’st()pped to listen. Chaneing to look back I saw what appeared to ‘be a great long string of dogs, but from the noise at once knew that it was a pack of wolves hunting. It did not strike me even then that it was my bones they wanted to pick, but not being armeld, mot even an axe or knife, I was taking no chanees and hustled for the big timber where I could at least find a club in case they attacked. | Oldâ€"Timer of Wawaitin Contributes His Share to the Wolf Lore of The Toronto Star. The following letter is published just as received. It needs no exâ€" planation. Indeed it is plain enough that The Toronto Star need not err thenein. Wawaitin, Jan. 31st., 1925.
