Nearly 300 Entries at Second ~ Poultry and Pet Stock Show Striking Exhibits of Highâ€"Class Poultry and Pet Stock. Large Crowds Attend Second Annual Show of Porcuâ€" pine Poultry and Pet Stock Association. List of Prize Winners at Big Event. The second annual show of the Poreupine Poultry and Pet Stock Asâ€" sociation, held in the Miners‘ Union Hall, Second Avenue, Timmins, on Wednesday and Thursday of last t ) t rod ‘ h ce heaues a C" week, Jan. 14th and 15th, exceeded the success of~last year, which is high praise, indeed. The Show was a comâ€" plete success in every way,â€"â€"in the number and quality of the exkhibits, in the large attendance throughout the show, and in the fact that it ags: now all on a sound financial basis. Perhaps, the only fair criticism that could be made was that the building used was not nearly large enough either for the best display of the | large entry list or for the accommoâ€" dation of the big crowds visiting the: show. But such criticism would be unjust in view of the, fact that the building was the only suitable one aâ€" vailable. The only remedy would apâ€" pear to be the plan of the Association erecting a building of its own for the purpose. This can not fairly be exâ€" pected for the immediate present, so the only thing proper now is to exâ€" tend the thanks of the Association, and of the public also to the manâ€" agement of the Miners‘ Union Hall for the kindly loan of the hall for show purposes. w% sy We There was a remarkably fine showâ€" ing of poultry and an unusually inâ€" teresting exhibit of dogs and other pet stock. The show excels anything shown in the North Land and would do eredit to any big town of the South. There were 284 eutries. _ Jn addition, Mr. J. N. Levine had some of his beautiful Seotch Collies on exâ€" hibition, none of these dogs, however, being entered in competition as Mr. Levine was the Judge in the Dog Classes. The public gave the event very‘ hearty support, there being large crowds throughout the whole time of the Show. There was a particulatr ‘‘rush‘‘ on during the period after £®Air o‘elock on Thursday Ahfternoon, the school children then being admitâ€" ted free. The lineâ€"up stretched from. the hall down below the corner. The youngsters were taken in in groups, shown through and then let out to acâ€" commodate anuther group. Mr. W. M. Cadman,, of , London Ont., the Judge af the Poultry classes, was complimentary not only to the individual exhibits of special merit, but also the ‘Show as a whole. He cunsldered it generally as very ereditable indeed. This year, as last, Mr. Cadman proved eminently satinpâ€" factory as a Judge and gave very general satisfaction. He said that the biggest improvement noted this vear was in the Rhode Island Reds ## ® # @ *# «> @ #+# n z?t\???\vaf?%%z.\fff?. + Watches Clocks and Jewelry. 282 Second Avenue, near Rink.
