After working quietly on the matâ€" ter for some time the police this week secured one of the two material witâ€" nesses missing since last summer in the case usually known as the * White Slavery"" case. In this case Antonia Crochetta complained to the police that she had been illegally held for immoral purposes at a place in Timâ€" mins known as the Queen‘s Cafe and situated on the corner of Pine and second Avenue. Last summer, when the case came up for trial, this woâ€" man and another material witness,, Jos. Loretta, could. not be: found.. search has been continued for them since, and recently the police secured a clue. Following this up, Loretta was arnested at the Dome Mines on Monday by Chief Greer and Deputy Chief Sallevy. Following a recent aceidentâ€" at North Bay in which Jaines Gironx was killed by collision with an autoâ€" mobile while riding a hbicycle on streei, S, Dechane ‘has ‘been‘ committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter. He is out on $5,000.00 bail. the Dome Mines as Geo, Gorret. He was apparently much surprised when the police arrived fon him, bhut he did not deny his identity. He claimed that the use of the other name at the mine was due to confusion throthgh his name being _poorly wyitten by himselK He also stated that the reaâ€" son he did not appear at the trial last June was because he did not reâ€" ceive a summons. The records sugâ€" gest, however, that he was summoned all right, It is believed that with the arrest of the man, the womsan wanted will aiso traced and secured.
