ARRESTED WHILE MOVING TO NEW QUARTERS AT NIGHT Monday evening W. R. H. Brown, a young fellow who has been in town for some time past, was placed under arrest on a charge of Hegally having gold ore in his possession. ‘The manâ€" ner in which the arrest occurred was rather odd. Brown had been living in one shack in Mattagami â€"and deâ€" cided to move to another. He selectâ€" ed a rather late hour for his moving and he also cut through lots that were in deep darkness. Carrying a couple of suitecases and a bundle he walked right into the arms â€"of Clhief Greer and Deputy Chief Salley who were not looking for him but were out pn altogether different business. Brown‘s explanation for moving in such a way and at such a time did not impress the police very much. The Chiet also was curious as to , what some of the bags and bundles might contain. Acâ€" cordingly Brown was escorted to the shack that Ae said was his few Lhome, and there a quantity of gold ore was discovered ~among his effects. His explanation of how he came into posâ€" session of this gold â€"ore wias not satâ€" isfactory to. the police and as a reâ€" sult he.was asked, to spend the night at the Hotel de Greer.
