SPECIAL TUESDAY AND FRIDAY FRUIT BREAD just come to Light River Road Dome Won Over Hollinger 7 Points to 3. Good Crowd Shows Interest in Game. FIRST RUGBY FOOTBAL HERE ON THURSBAY LAST About 200 spectators witnessed the first home mateh at Timmins of rugby football. This was on Thursday last Timmins and resulted in a win for the Dome by 1 drop goal and a try (7 points) to 1 try (3 points) for the Hollinger. The first half was fast, both teams being tackled well at 235 yards. There were some narrow escapes on touchâ€"doiwns, the Hollinger threeâ€"quarters coming in for some good tackles and keeping the Dome out. The Hollinger missed a good chancee when Thomas got by and passed to Tonkin. (Tonkin had a clear right of way but fumbled the pass and was robbed before he could gather the ball. â€" The Dome got going again, Lyle finishing with a nice drop goal, the seore remaining the same at halfâ€"time, 4 points to nil. At a special meeting of the Town Council last week the tender of the Warren Paving Company was acceptâ€" ed for the street paving to be done here this summer. As some changes were made in the specifications or work as tendered on, the matter is not definitely settled yet as the Warâ€" ren Paving (Co. have to agree to the changes and accept the new contract. If they accept â€"the. work is to be taken up at once and rushed to completion. Much progress has already been made on Pine street and Third avenue in the matter of installing water serâ€" vices, sewers, etc., in readiness for the permanent roadways planned on these tiwo streets. Under the contract as finally approved by the Council the Warren Paving Co. will simply do the paving, the other necessary works beâ€" ing looked after by other contracts. The Warren Paving Co. were recently awarded the contract for extensive paving on North Bay streets. In the second half the Hollinger were still handicapped with the loss of Pascoe and Jackson, both having to retire in the first half owing to inâ€" juries, but the Hollinger put up a strong defensive game, the result beâ€" ing very little passing and much kickâ€" ing of the ‘ball, with Serums coming often. _ The Dome were a little the better in getting the ‘ball out of the serums and make some dangerous runs The Dome balves got away again and sent W. Freeman away on the left and he was lucky in getting a touchâ€"down near the flag. Whe try was unconvertâ€" ed. WThe Hollinger were now down 7 points and set the pace going and afâ€" ter a few good runs Wills got through for a toutch down near the goal line. Thomas kicked the ball and was acâ€" curate but fell a foot short. of the bar. Both teams pressed but were unable to alter the score. _ Referee Harrts blew time with the Dome 1 drop goal, 1 try (7 points) and the Hdollinger 1 try (3 points). NORMAN MARTIN WISHES TO LOCATE HER HUSBAND Some weeks ago the Salvation Army desired to locate a gentleman in this camyp whose parents were very anxious regarding him. The assistance of The Advance was enlisted, and in a few hours after the publication of this paper, the gentleman‘s whereâ€" albouts were known and anxiety reâ€" lieved. This week Capt. Cornthiwaite sets a somewhat similar task for The Advance. â€" Information is wanted at onee as to the present location of Mr. Norman Martin.: Mrs. Martin and children reached here from Portage la Prairie on Monday evening and were unalble to locate Mr. Martin. He had wired tickets for their trip here, but when the family reached here they could not find him. Soon they were at the end of their financial resources but luckily eame into the hospitable hands of Capt. and MMrs. Cornthwaite, and are being well cared for of course. Naturally, however, there is great anâ€" xiety to locate the husband and father He worked here for a time with the Telephone Co., later going to the Viâ€" pond Mine. _ Recently, however, he left the Vipond and yesterday no trace could lbe found of him. Some who knew him say they think he inâ€" tended to go to Portage la Praimie. Others think they saw him in town this week. If this should come to his notice he should get in touch at once with Capt. Cornthiwaite, and if anyâ€" one knowing the gentleman should have any information as to his presâ€" Cornthwaite ent address or location they would be doing a real kindness by letting Capt. Cornthwaite know at once. THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIO Four Stores in the North The George Taylor Hardware Limited The Geo.
