THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIO BOME WINS FROM KIRKLAND IN DIGKSON GUP SERIES On Dome Grounds on Saturday Evenâ€" ing Dome Makes Nice Win With a Score of 2 to 1. The Dome Football team Saturday evening last threw aside the jinx that has been pursuing that club much of this year, and took the first two points for Dome in the eup matches. In other words Dome won from Kirkland Lake to the seore of 2 to 1. The Kirkland Lake team came up without their goalkeeper, Elrick. In place of Elrick they had MePhail. The latter played a good game throughout but he is not yet in Elâ€" rick‘s class. The teams lined up as folloows:â€" Domeâ€"Fidock, goal ; Harrower and Ewart, backs; Fell, Kellow and Hitt, halfâ€"backs; Williams, Honer, Wallace, Hawkin and Miner, forwards. The Dome won the kick and chose to kick with the strong wind behind them. ‘The Lake pressed on their right. Harrower cleared. The Dome started a combination move, only to have Hastie break it up and set Lucas going. The Lake failed to get through the Dome backs. ‘The Dome made a raid. MeDonald cleared. Hitt got on the ball and put in a great shot. MePhail saved by punchinge over the bar. The Dome pressed, but the wind carried the ball wide on a couple of nice shots. Kirkland took the ball down and gave Fidock one to handle. He set his fonwards going again with a long drive. WThe Dome now played a close combination and worked close Kirkland _ Lakeâ€"McPhail, â€" goal; Ramsay and MeDonald, backs; Mcâ€" Vey, J. Hamilton, and Hastie, halfâ€" backs; Lmucas, Condie, Parsons, A. Hamilton and Rhodes, forwards. in. Aifter a lively time, Miner got a shot on an open goal and scored. Kirkland Lake pressed. Lucas made some fine rushes on ‘the right and several times to break away ‘but Ramâ€" say and MceDonald kept them back. Wallace got through twice, but the speedy MeDonald went after him and rohbed him of the leather before he could shoot. Lucas and A. Hamilton pressed on the wing and passed in the centres, but Fidock got what came his way, and he was getting them from all directions. Kirkland Lake were having all the play but could not get a clear shot on goal. Ramsay sent in one fine shot from nearly the halfâ€" way line. Fidock made a nice save by tipping it over the bar. The corâ€" ner kick _ looked dangerous, but Ewart saved. He set Wallace going and Wallace passed to Williams, who returned to Wallace, the latter taking the only shot on Kirkland goal in the second half. ([McPhail had no diffiâ€" culty in saving. (The whistle went with the Lake pressing to equalize the score, lbut they did not succeed the final seore being 2 to 1 in favou of the Dome. _Â¥A very enjoyable and successful event was the Gingham Ball held last Friday evening in the Masonic Hall, Timmins, under the auspices of theâ€" Girls‘ Auxiliary of St. (Matthew‘s Anglican church. The â€" refreshments â€" served during the eveninge were an enjoyable part of a successful _ evening‘s programme. In fact, every feaâ€" ture of the dance may be said to have been ceminently> successâ€" ful and enjoyable and the event proved one more to be added to the long list of pleasing social events under the auspices of the Girls‘ Auxâ€" iliary. >~ Refereeâ€"O.
