If all our 60,000 people were in one coimmunity, the work of handling them would be comparatively= easy. but being seattered over 40,000 square miles, it is out of all reason to exâ€" pect that we can keep close control of the situation with oniy one man in the field. This condition has been given a great deal of cons:ideration by and they have requested this society to use its influence to have the disâ€" trict divided, with the suggestion that the northern portion comprise, the judicial district of Cochrane, and that they have their own local superintendâ€" ent. I would recommend that this Society take some action towards On motion of Mrs. J. C. Houston, seconded by Mrs. N. J. MeAulay, the Society passed a resolution recomâ€" mending to the Provincial Governâ€" ment that the present territory of the Children‘s Aid Society of Temiskâ€" aming ‘be divided into two districts, one comprising the judicial district of Cochrane, the other the district of Teâ€" miskaming, and that a Jocal superinâ€" tendent be appointed for the district of Cothrare, that end.‘‘ On motion of Mrs seconded by Mrs. N. ‘The report also explained that plans for the new Shelter have been preâ€" pared and swhmnitted to the Governâ€" ment. ‘It is hoped the work will be gone on with in the Spring. The splendid support given by New Liskeard has been a particularly gratiâ€" fying feature of the year, almost half of the money raised coming from the Creamery Town. Special thanks was also extended to the Nipissing Society at Nowth Bay for the use of the Shelter and other assistance and . kindnesses, and to Magistrate Atkinson for his counsel and advice, and to the police, both local and Provincial. PRESIDENT‘S NIGHT AT CALEDONIAN SOCIETY \The regular meeting of the Caleâ€"| donian Society of Timmins in the l.: Q.0.F. Hall proved a very pleasing | and enjoyable event. Acceordâ€" ingely the programme was provided by the President, Past Presidents and their ladies, or deputies.. . President D. Mackie made a decided hit with awellâ€"rendered . songs. Mrs. G. A. Macdonald‘s reading amused all and was enthusiastieally encored. The reading by Past President M. B. Seott, ‘*The Revenge"‘ was one of the ifeature% of the evening. [Mrs. M. B. l\oott s stios, as usual, were greatly appreciated and insistently encored. A dnet by Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Seott was another pleasing number, while Mr. Seott‘s humorous solo was anâ€" other of the hits of the evening. ‘‘ITmagination‘‘ was the title of a medley by Past President G. A. Macâ€" donald. Viceâ€"President W. D. Watt gave a wellâ€"rendered Scottigh song and will no dowbt be called upon now for frequent contributions to the proo'rammes as he proved his albillity as a vocalist of talent.
