The Govéernment realizes that the mushâ€" room typée of brokerage house is liable not only to cause loss to the people doing business with this class of broker but also is practically sure to have the effect of injuring the deâ€" velopment of the North through the losses that usually follow dealings with questionable firms. It is said that several of the ‘‘curb‘‘ brokers recently failing across the line have planned to establish themselves in Ontario. The Government is planâ€" ning otherwise. The Government is investigating the past history of the new brokerage and investment houses with a view to protecting the public. In this good work the Government is having the heartiest coâ€"operation of the Standard Mining Exchange, the members of the Exchange as a body being anxious to have the business kept legitimate and honourable. ~/ TO INVESTIGATE DUBIOUS BROKERAGE BUSINESSES On Saturday last Schumacher bow!â€" ers visited Iroquois Falls and had a very pleasant visit, their hosts giving them everything good except final victory. ‘The scoring by two teams was as follows :â€"â€" IROQUOIS FALLS WINS PROM SCHUMACHER BOWLERS *=J.
