The penalty under this section is a ‘fine of $5 to $50 for the first oifence; $10 to $100 for the seeâ€" ond offence with the addition that the license may be suspended up to three months; for sitbsequent offences $20 to $200 with possible suspension f license up to six months. Any person who drives a motor veâ€" hicle on a highway at a greater rate of speed than 40 miles per hour, or who drives a motor vehicle on a higns way recklessly or negligently, or at a rate or in a manner dangerous to the public, having regard to all tne cinrâ€" eumstances, shall incur a penalty of not leéss than $10 and not more than $200, and shall also be liable to imâ€" prisomment for any term not exceedâ€" ing 60 days, and in addition his liceâ€" ense or permit shall be suspended for any period not exceeding six months. Heavy penalties are prmlded for defacing notices or removing obstrueâ€" tions lawfully placed on highways. No person in charge of a velhicle shall pass or attempt to pass another veâ€" hicle going in the same direction on a highway unless and until the traâ€" velled portion of the highway in front of and to the left of the vehicle to be passed is safely free from approâ€" aching traffic.
